if it is the Wild West out there with NIL, it’s still the haves and have nots, isn’t it? I have no idea how far teams like Alabama or Tennessee or Texass have dipped into NIL, but there has to be much more available for them, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC etc, correct?

Parity can also include moving in and out new players and trying to mesh a team together. One year with a couple of guys who don’t buy into the system or have an ego and it can screw up a team.

Meanwhile a coach who can find the right transfers, mesh them, and get the best out of them will win.

Money doesn’t solve everything.

We all seen how Muss has to deal with it with just 4-6 players a year. Imagine 15-20 a year.

Deion winning with what he’s compiled is what makes them being 2-0 so amazing. They aren’t world beaters but they have bought into his system.

It’s also why I think Bama has lost some steam the last few years. Saban can’t stockpile talent for years and just plug guys in.

Both the portal and NIL has hurt Bama more than helped.

Bama had a huge advantage getting away with murder as the NCAA looked away.

Now with the portal and NIL, programs are flipping the NCAA off and are trying to distance themselves from them.

You can't beat Bama by following the rules. Bama doesn't and have been cheating for decades.

They committed enough crimes to be given the death penalty more than once. But nothing serious
happens to them.

Bama was destroying the
sport but the combination of the NIL and the portal has brought Bama down far enough that teams have a fighting chance of beating them.

LSU won the West full of transfers.

Recruiting rankings don't matter as much now. The portal is a bigger deal because schools can get these former highly rated players from other schools that are unhappy about sitting on the bench.

You get players like Drew Sanders that wouldn't come to Arkansas if the portal didn't exist.

I don’t disagree with any of what has bees said, I’m just saying that if there are no limits, isn’t it going to boil down to who has the deepest pockets?

One thing I think is different is having a coach who is able to keep key players around, like KJ. A coach who can keel the nucleus of his team together for 2 or 3 years is going to have some success. Coaches who are pricks will see those kids transfer, or go pro.

I’m sure it helps to get buy in when your sons are the best players.

They all have deep pockets. The question is how much are they willing to spend?

The aggies bought a class full of players that was worth 30 million.

Saban complained that they bought those players but so has Alabama and he is mad that Bama has competition now. But also spending more money than usual for NIL.
