Have we ever had a coach that heavily recruited Mississippi?

I was wondering about this for a few reasons. I know a lot of us would like to be done with the neutral site game in dallas with A&M. Was thinking that might hurt DFW representation going forward but oh well.
I also was thinking with both of their major schools team routinely being kinda bad in theory it shouldn't be as hard as trying to go into Louisiana for talent right?

Chaggy recruits Texass!
We've been told to win at Arkansas you have to recruit Texass.
Ole Piss and State are kicking our arse. Let that sink in Hog fans..

Heavily recruit? No, probably not.
Mississippi would take a lot of effort (man hours) for a low return. Long way from Fayetteville, two SEC schools in state, proximity to Alabama...
Time working Mississippi might be better spent working Louisiana for not quite LSU takes and more productive fields.
We get one out of there every once in a while though.

Lance Alworth is one who always comes to mind. He was great.

Mississippi does produce an outsize amount of talent, partly due to their Jr. College system, but you have three established FBS football programs in state and Alabama fishing there on a regular basis.
We need to be more competitive as far as recruiting Memphis and keeping the Mississippi schools from signing Southeastern Arkansas talent. If we can establish a recruiting foothold in Memphis then we can dip our toes into Mississippi on a more regular basis.

Harder, historically and recently. Several problems with relying on MS talent, one qualifying has historically been a problem although you don't hear about that as much today, two no matter how shitty OM or MS State is, it is still equivalent to go into LA or Texas and taking a recruit they want in most cases.
The biggest issue is while there are plenty of diamonds to be found, the 2-3* filled classes are not going to buy you good faith and time to develop them and have them contribute as upper classmen.

Louisiana is a better recruiting ground for Arkansas how has historically done well in Northern LA, you only have (1) in state school to compete with compared to Texas, Alabama, the Carolinas, Mississippi, Florida, etc.
The ideal recruiting strategy for Arkansas, regardless of the coach is to sign the SEC Caliber instate talent, then supplement the needs of the roster with recruits from Northeast OK, Southwest Missouri, Saint Louis, Memphis, Louisiana, and Texas.
The worst thing for the program is to focus primarily on Texas (as others have done there and Florida) as the end result was the recruits seeing Arkansas as a fall back plan with maximum effort same results, fighting Okie Light, Baylor, TCU, and TTU for the scraps.

True. But after being turned down by Vaught, he didn't end up at Arkansas by default. Frank Broyles wanted him.

We won 2 games last year. Is the Dallas game really helping recruiting??

Not having the guaranteed game in Texas every year could be bad for a recruiting pitch. Sure some of the newness has come off playing in Dallas but it's still in a NFL stadium and a place where TX HS football players dream of playing. We have eight Texans in our current recruiting class and majority of students from the Dallas area.

Majority is not true, but we do have a lot of them. Kids came here from Dallas before that game. We are pretty well known in Dallas area high schools. This game doesn't add that much to our well-established brand.
We could replace it with the occasional hogs vs TCU or similar in Jerryworld rather than every single freaking year. Home and home with Texas A&M would give us another home game, which would also be beneficial for recruiting
