Guns and Roses>Barth Brooks. I wish some of the old legends were still alive but now we are stuck with Chris Gaines.

Watching Garth Brooks concerts now is almost like watching a really good tribute band.
Brooks still looks the same and the songs are the same, but the vibe is gone. He had his time and now it's just kind of like playing a jukebox.
It also doesn't help that he's just a weird AF dude. The bizarre Chris Gaines stunt, which I still don't think he understands why it was so off-putting, is just a perfect example of his strangeness.
If he wanted to play less country-sounding music in late 90s, he should have just ditched the brush-popper shirts, Wranglers and Stetson and just started dressing like Hootie and The Blowfish and playing more alternative/pop rock songs.
But he wanted to keep his cash cow country dress up/Madonna stage act and try to form a second brand and it failed miserably.
And I say all of this as a kid whose favorite musical artist was Garth Brooks.

He is an entertainer but lacks good songwriting and has an average voice. I liked Brooks and Dunn better. Ronnie is simply a superior vocalist than Barth. Go watch a live version of neon moon and you will OMG.
I watched a Joe Rogan video and he had guests on that explained in person how weird Barth was. I think the success got to him and his head never deflated.
I give Barth credit for his stage presence taking from 80s hair bands that brought in audiences that weren't fans of country music. Yes I liked him when I was young but his voice and music are just the cringe. I wished I could watch Waylon and the Hag instead but that was a generation I missed out on.
