We have 1 pitcher.

Omaha is going to be a pipe dream with this staff and fielding talent.

Well we had the tour of death just now. Multiple series on the road against top 5 teams. We came close to taking series at Florida and Ole Miss and just came up a bit short.

Over 30 unearned runs this season.

Not on you Bro, on the players.

Stats

33 unearned runs on 31 errors

.970 fielding percentage

4, 6, 3, 2, 4 is too many errors in 28 games by the CF, SS, 3B, LF, 2B and that doesn’t include other misplays on wild throws to bases where a runner doesn’t advance or official scorer gives a double instead of single for not hitting the cut off and keeping the batter on first.

5.26 ERA in SEC games. 1.54 WHIP. Only 83 strikeouts in 77 innings. Opponents average .279 against our pitchers.

This year, if we had Ole Miss at home, we sweep that series. Hell, we probably beat the shite out of them. I'd bet on us in a neutral park vs Ole Miss right now.

This is a good team. We stayed at #5 in spite of our shitty road swing.

Am I the only one ready to see DVH ditch Nate Thompson over at 3rd base? Multiple times this year he sends runners on ground balls who are thrown out at home, which end up being the difference in the game at the end. These aren't just ground balls where you think the runner can make it...these are ground balls that are slow rollers and are at the third baseman. In the Ole Miss series he did it in game two AGAIN, then the next inning he DOESNT send a runner on third when there is a pop fly that the 2nd baseman catches over his shoulder in mid right field with his momentum carrying him into deeper right field with absolutely no momentum to throw the runner out at home.

I concur, although our problems run deeper than this. I'll be anxious to see how we perform against Mize and the Aubbies at Baum Stadium.

The manager typically determines whether the guy on third is going on contact.

A runner doesn't have time to wait for a third base coach to make a decision.

The fly ball that Fletcher didn't run on was inexcusable.

So the third base coach determines whether the contact play is on in college? I doubt it. As hands on as DVH is, I have no doubt that the signal comes from the dug-out.

DVH can say what he wants but Ill call bullshite all day long on that.

It hasn't just happened once, it has happened damn near every big series we have had, even in wins. It screams of a coach who isn't used to the speed of this league and is used to the speed of another, lower tiered league.

And its the 3rd base coaches call to go on contact. He will tell the runner what he wants when they get to 3rd. "Go on contact or Go on ground ball on other side of field but stay if grounder on this side of field, etc."

If any of you recall, DVH made it known a few seasons ago that he didn't like what the 3rd base coach was doing. DVH started coaching third base during the season.
