That's my expectation if he stays here a good long while.

Grand Slam hire!

The only jobs that give me any worry are NFL HC gigs at any of the 3 Florida NFL franchises, or if Jeff Long gets a CEO spot worth $20-30Mil a yr.

Bet it'll end up not being just a thought, but a fact.

Minor side note, but this year really has a special feel to it. Like a 'we're making the playoffs this year' kind of feel.

Really?

Maybe pre-JW injury. After... Not so much.

He's a huge, huge loss.

Really?

actually I'll give my reasoning. before the season no team on our schedule gave me any doubt we could beat them. almost every team is poised to have a down year compared to Arkansas being poised to have an up year.

after Saturday's games those feelings were only reinforced. with LSU being the only wild card from the west and Tennessee being a minor wild card from the east.

I don't think we're there yet. If BA can be consistent and efficient we'll be in the mix come Thanksgiving.

Hope to see continued improvement. We've still got a couple Petrino classes to rotate out and Partridge & Shannon recruits to process w/ better incoming talent (seems like Bert's bigger on APR and getting ROI than cutting bait).

Our OL actually might be a little over-hyped. We need more depth there.

LB is a position where we're probably 2 years away from being up to par w/ the DL and secondary. We could use a couple elite athletes in the back 7 and on the edge of the rush. Get that to go w/ the DL then we'll have a shutdown defense. Pair that D w/ the type of offense we're building and the pieces we've got coming in. We'll be pulling away from teams in the 4th, when they're playing catch up, we'll be eating clock and toying with spread HUNH coaches.

Gotta feel good w/ Enos and Smith as coordinators.

Gotta feel even better w/ Bert running the ship. He said in the post game "this train's left the station, I don't care who you are, how much you played or didn't play" the end of that was something like get on board or get left behind.

I am gonna be brutally honest here, while I think he is going to be a very great coach in time here, if he stays. We are still not in the league with Bama imho. After watching that game against Wisky, dang those boys are stacked, if Wisky is any real indication. Brutal strength....

TAMU was much better defensively than I thought they would be as well. Ole Miss, although against the weakest competition of the WE, they looked good.

What I thought would be wins (TAMU/Ole Miss) prior to the season, and competitive chance (bammy) now I am not as sure ...

THis year we are still a few studs away from reaching our pinnacle. Lord how I would love to be wrong!

Look into who all ASU and Wisky are trying to replace this season.

It isn't the same offenses that trotted out on the field last season...

Wisconsin and ASU have/had no business in the top 25.

you may both be right, as I haven't looked at roster turnover at all. But in strength of the opponent, they sure beat the sisters of the poor that many played this weekend.

And they looked very good doing it!

You are judging based on name recognition.

You really should look at ASUs losses, Wisky replacing Gordon is well known.

I just worry about our run game.

I was not overly impressed with it against UTEP. I know they were stacking the box etc, but that shouldn't matter. I still think our OL needs to get deeper and more athletic. They still seem to get in their own way, and the RBs way a lot of the time.

Going to hurt not having JWs change of pace and as much as I like his hard work etc, I just don't think KW is the guy.

A note about our run game, we never got to pound on this team for several reasons:

Huge pass plays resulting in touchdowns
UTEP completely stacking the box at all costs
Several drives starting inside the UTEP 20

Our running success last year came from keeping the opponent's defense on the field, keeping our defense rested. Long, sustained drives to wear down the defense. That just wasn't possible in this game. I mean there was 6 seconds left in the half and UTEP had no safeties deep, 1-on-1 coverage against Reed despite having been burned deep the entire 1st half. They were dead set against the run.

Most teams will be trying to win and play balanced defense against us which will open up the run. I'm just thankful we now have an OC who understands the need to pass off that's what the defense is giving you. Run if that's what the defense is giving you.

Stacking the box does matter. 6 guys can't block all 8-10 guys. Physically impossible.

I think you're overreacting

Here's why our stats don't jump off the page. AC and KW only combined for 17 rushing attempts. BA only threw 18 times.

So our main guys only accounted for 35 plays. 48 points on 35 plays isn't bad. I mean we could have pounded the ball all game long, worn down their defense and punished them in the second half. But why bang our head against the wall when they were giving us the pass all day.

I'd love to see what KW is going to do against a worn down defense. Or what AC will do after KW punishes a defense for a half. Texas Tech must be shitting their pants thinking about tackling Walker.

yes it does. You're selling UTEP short - they're a physical bunch. And it wouldn't have mattered who it was on Saturday - any team that sends as many guys as they did every play, the opposing team is going to have problems running it. Doesn't matter how good the O-line is or the talent difference. I was pretty impressed with our offense on Saturday, it was the perfect showcase of what Enos brings to the table.

UTEP is going to beat a lot of spreads this year.

I don't think Vegas or the majority of fans quite know what they're doing down there.

Outside of TN-Martin, Texas Tech may be the worst team we face all year.

I just think we have a really tough time running the ball against A&M and Alabama and that will be our downfall in those games.

I look forward to see how Enos responds, maybe I've just had nightmares of all the damn Petrino games where we go to throwing 50 times and get eaten alive.

I know we will win 8 games this year, but anything beyond that will be a pleasant surprise. The league is just ridiculous this year. Not as top heavy as it has been but top to bottom this may be the best its been.

Plus our damn schedule never seems to be favorable when we peak with experience etc.
