Beat 1 seed Auburn 3-1-1.

Yesterday they had to beat 2 seed Vandy and 3 seed Texas A&M.

2nd men’s golf title with last one in 1995.

Auburn went -24, Arkansas was +15 as they played three rounds for match play pairings.

Quarterfinals beat Vandy 3-2 LINK in extras. Semifinals beat Texas A&M 3-2 LINK also in extras.

For the finals Buhl won first but Auburn tied it up. Reeder gave Arkansas the 2-1 lead and the deciding two matches were A/S late. Hogs won on Perico putt 3-1-1. LINK

Between this, baseball and gymnastics it’s been a pretty good week for Arkansas athletics

Sunday's victory by the men's golf team is also significant because it's just the fourth time - in 31 attempts - that the Razorbacks have won an SEC Championship game or match.

The track and field and cross country programs for the men and women have combined to win numerous SEC titles, but the format is such that they aren't playing in a true championship game or match against one other team.

Similarly, the men's golf team's 1995 title came in stroke play. It wasn't until a few years ago that the golf championship was decided through match play, which pits two teams in a final match.

As you can see in the chart below, Arkansas' only other wins were in volleyball (1997), men's basketball (2000) and women's golf (2018).

~Volleyball: 1-7

~Men's basketball: 1-6

~Soccer: 0-5

~Baseball: 0-4

~Football: 0-3

~Men's golf: 1-0

~Women's golf: 1-0

~Women's basketball: 0-1

~Softball: 0-1

Wow that is awful. I knew we weren’t great in championships but I didn’t know it was that bad.

While our track teams aren't playing a true "match" game for the SEC titles I don't doubt we'd beat most of the folks we would have matched up against for those titles.

Soccer is a weird sport for us. We are more middle of the pack SEC, even though we've made improvements, but our team has shown a knack of making it to the championship game and then losing very close there in recent years.
