I have a stomach virus and couldn't do my 180 squats last night for this stupid challenge i'm in, so now I'm a day behind, plus I couldn't do my core work out yesterday. Hoping for today, but I also have mat burn ON MY arse
from that crossfit class I did Saturday. TMI, sorry. FYI-mat burn hurts. bad.

Currently sitting in the doctors office to find out how bad I hurt my chest a couple days ago doing decline bench. Hoping its a minor strain. If its worse ill need surgery to repair it according to what I've read online.

Yuck. Hope it's nothing major.

yikes. what did you do??
I use a decline bench at home. Just a few exercises b/c I'm afraid of doing something wrong.
Hope you don't need surgery.

well was doing 4 sets of 5 with 325 on decline. had done one set already when i was doing the second set i did two reps and when i went for the third i felt a pull in my right chest area. felt like my muscle turned into a rubber band. lost all strength. had to call to some people to get the weight off me. didn't have a spotter because im stupid and was over confident. the weight wasnt an issue and ive never had an injury like this before so wasn't expecting to need a spot. needless to say im gonna stretch and make sure i have a spot from now on.
since there wasn't that much pain i was hopeful the strain wasn't that bad. which i found out at the doctor today to be the case. he said it wasn't even my chest muscle that i tore. it was the lower part of my bicep thats close to my chest. he said it was a minor tear and should take about 2-3 weeks to heal. i can still do light weight as long as it doesn't hurt it.
the worse thing about it is i had been bulking up since i made this thread and had got up to 415 on decline. now all that gain is gone
eta: i'm at 250 lbs now. hoping to be able to lose some of the water weight i've put on while bulking up. but still keep most of the muscle mass. we'll see though...

Good to hear it's nothing major. It sucks having to scale back, though. Been there.
325. Sheeze. I forget sometimes you guys are males. Oh the difference.
makes me look so damn puny and week.

How old are you?
I'm 38 and have no desire for bulk like that. I think it would severely injure me or put a ton of strain on my joints.

How old are you?
i'm 26 now. be 27 the end of august.
i've definitely noticed my body reacting differently to how i train it the older i get. i thought i would like bulking up. i would of liked it more when i was younger. but now i got burned out after about 3 months of going hard and lifting 5 days a week with very little cardio. i hated getting winded after walking up 3 flights of stairs. i noticed a big decrease in my energy and stamina from where it was before i starting bulking up. so i decided to take a couple weeks off after getting burned out and decide on a different routine.
i knew i didn't want to go one extreme end of the spectrum and go pure bulking up. and i didn't want to go to the other extreme and just do pure cutting down with nothing but light weight and cardio. moving forward i knew long term my best option was not to bulk up but to focus more on cardio. but i didnt want to do just cardio. i decided to try to find the grey area between the two. the grey area isn't easy to find because you're constantly walking the fine line of too much cardio will make you lose muscle and too little cardio will make you gain non muscle mass.
i started trying to find the grey area the first part of april. i still work out the same body parts the same days as my bulking up routine when i was lifting 5 days. but my routine now adds a lot more cardio and more time for my muscles to recover which i like. my current routine is:
-- legs on monday
-- run at least 5 miles tuesday
-- chest and tris wednesday
-- run at least 5 miles thursday
-- bi's and forearms on friday.
the next week
-- run at least 5 miles monday
-- back and calves tuesday
-- run at least 5 miles wednesday
-- shoulders thursday
-- run at least 5 miles friday.
so im alternating the days i run and lift every week. this again allows my muscles more time to recover and i can add more cardio. the funny thing is once i started allowing my muscles more time to recover i noticed a big spike in how much weight i could do. funny how that worked. but iv'e heard before how allowing your muscles more time to recover is essential, which i'm now a big believer in. i'm just trying to get my cardio back up to snuff and get it to where it was prior to when i went pure bulking up. i'm ready to get back to being able to run 10-12 miles pretty easy. but i'm not sure how that will effect my grey area. i may not be able to get my cardio up that high without losing to much muscle mass. and not to mention i had been thinking about starting p90x or insanity to shred down for the summer. not sure how that will effect things...
here are the supplements i'm currently taking:
Pro7ein protein. -- still on the same protein as when i started this thread. big fan of it. has fast, moderate, and slow digesting proteins and it tastes great.
Karbolic orange burst -- complex carb supplement. take a scoop of it with me to the gym. drink half midway through my workout. the other half right after my workout before my protein shake. also orange >>> fruit punch
MusclePharm Armor-V multivitamin -- best multivitamin i've ever used. great combination of ingredients and the pills are easy to digest.
Forzaone sport bcaa's -- this is a branch chain amino acid blend. helps muscle recovery. it's like vitamin C, it's hard to overdose on them. i mix a scoop of it with my karbolic when i go to the gym. take a scoop after cardio. and drink a scoop on my off days.
Endurapro -- i mix this with my pre-workout. its a carb, energy, bcaa combination. i like it that its not heavy and dont weigh me down when i go into the gym or go do cardio.
N'Sane pre-workout -- this is my cardio pre-workout. mix this with my endurapro before i do cardio. it has an ingredient in it that heats up my body core to promote sweat.
Badass Labs Insane Pump -- Best. Pre-workout. Evar! no lie. this is the best pre-workout for the gym iv'e ever used. great pump, focus, and energy. but it has creatine in it so i don't use it when i do cardio. mix this with the endurapro before i go into the gym.
Chaotic Labz Genocide -- take three of these pills everyday. take them with my pre-workout on days i workout and take them on my off days. builds muscle and shreds fat. the way their made up you can stay on them. their not like a pro-hormone cycle where you can only stay on them for so long.
HGHup by Applied Nutriceuticals -- i guess this was the first hgh i ever took. i take it before i go to bed. which it helps with muscle recover, muscle growth, increase testosterone, and helps put me to sleep.
AD-3 Post Cycle Therapy -- take this before bed at night. it helps me sleep. finished a cycle of the prohormone Estrastain a couple weeks back. the AD-3 is what im on to bring me back to normal. between the increased recovery time and the pro-hormone i saw a good increase in the weight i was able to lift. worst thing about the estrastain is it has triene in it which caused me to break into a sweat while i was in bed at night at like 3-4 oclock in the morning
i also take fish oil pills, flaxseed pills, and glucosamine with MSM

yea but they each have their purpose. need something for pre-workout, during workout, post-workout, and recovery during off time.
i would consider this to be my hobby. supplements and the gym. i like to use my body as kind of a science experiment. try to maximize the output i get from it. so i eat real healthy, pay close attention to what supplements i put in it, and regulate what kind of workout im doing. then i like to see how the different supplements, food, and workout routines affect my body. its an ongoing thing for me.
the tricky thing is i like to eat. and eat good food. which is a leading cause of my need to workout and regulate what i eat.

Well, I ran (jogged(slowly)) 3 miles today.

Can you tell me more about the Genocide, the HGH and the AD-3?
Posted on 5/27/13 at 7:59 am to Ray Penpillage
I ran 3 miles the other day. (Fast jog) I hate running. Hate it. My pelvis was hurting bad at the ball joint. Getting old sucks.
bout to turn 36.
HawginNC- dude, I thought I was nuts with my pre and post workout supplements. You win hands down.

I've had a huge conflict and some health issues with my parents (they're fine) and ate poorly without working out. Gained a few lbs, time to get back into the habit.

Nice, I'm actually thinking about running that to get below 8% bf, while gaining some lean mass. How was your gains while on it?

well it helps burn fat and build muscle. the thing i like the most about it is that the ingredients allow for it to be continually taken. i was able to stack it with the prohormone i took estrastain. so its able to easily be stacked with other stuff. technically you don't have to come off of it, or at least that's what i was told. but was also was told by the same person, the guy i buy my supplements from, that it would probably be best to do something like 3 months on it and a month off of it so my body don't get used to it.
quote:
the HGH
this helps with recovery while i sleep. boosts my hgh and testosterone while i sleep. take it two hours after my last meal. then in about 30-45 min ill be feeling tired and go easily to sleep. only need 5-6 hours of sleep with it and no lingering side effects in the morning i can tell. i can wake up in the middle of the night go to the restroom or do something else and go back to sleep pretty easy. i've used some other brands that do the same thing but have come back to this brand a couple times now.
quote:
AD-3
this is just a post cycle therapy treatment. unless you just came off a prohormone cycle like i did, you won't need this. basically that prohormone cycle i was on, the estastain, jacked up my regular hormone levels. an now that im through with the bottle of estastain i'm taking AD-3 to bring my hormone levels back to normal. there are other brands of PCT i could of taken but decided on this one even though its a little more expensive because it has HGH support that helps me sleep. plus i'm able to stack it with the HGHup before i go to bed.

man i liked it a lot. went up on all my lifts quite a bit. seemed i was able to go up on my weight every week. never did max on incline or squat. but between it and increased recovery time i went from doing 4 sets of 5 with 265 on incline bench, to doing 4 sets of 5 with 325 lbs. then on squat i went from doing 4 sets of 5 with 355, to doing 4 sets of 5 with 405. on decline i went from doing 4 sets of 5 with 275, to doing 4 sets of 5 with 335. maxed out at 415 on decline. most i've ever done. would highly recommend it.
never did weigh myself to begin with
my only complaint was after i took about half to 3/4 of the botttle the 'triene' ingredient in it caused me to break into a sweat in the middle of the night. sucked because it would wake me up. got to where i would wear a under armour shirt to bed.
