We let Hargreaves go today
Players saying Morris hired the best in the game
Obviously the new DC also coaches LB’s.
Bud Foster coaches linebackers at VT
Bud Foster only makes 950k at VT
Bud Foster is fixing to get paid.

Silly post. Everyone here should know who it is by now.

Well Bore is it Brent? You supposedly know somebody who knows somebody

Guess we will see soon enough,eh?
I haven't talked to anyone about this stuff in awhile now. About 3 weeks now. If Venables is still in play, as has been rumored, everything I was told has come to pass.
No need to approach the subject again.

Here's another random stab
Kevin Steele coaches lb's and definitely is considered one of the best.
He coached with Morris at Clemson during his first year.
I mentioned this in the other thread but auburn isn't likely in a scenario where they can double all assistants pay after throwing the bank at gus

Lordy. I went back last night and looked at the top 3 thread. Exactly 3 people even had Morris in their top 3. Neither you or I were one of them.
You flopped around like a fish on who the coach was going to be, just like everyone else. You must just be a glutton for punishment if you do it to yourself on the DC too.
Posted on 12/8/17 at 7:27 am to troyt37
Lol. There's no punishment here, man.
Also, I don't think I really flopped around on it. I maintained from the beginning that I thought it would be Venables. I did, however, give my thoughts on other coaches too. I said I thought Kiffin would be a great hire. That Leach would be a great hire (although I didn't figure he had any real shot for a few reasons). I said they were talking to Charlie Strong (but my exact words on Strong were, "I highly, highly doubt he gets the job.") Etc.
But I thought our new coach would be Venables. Which of course isn't correct. But he still may get the DC gig. There ARE, in fact, people who would very much like to see him here.
Who know if that is enough to get him here. Time will tell. But Morris, apparently, has told the BoT that he intends to put the full court press on him to get him to coach our defense.
I have no problems admitting I was wrong about him being our head coach, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up here in some capacity.

to clarify a bit, dude said from the start that he thought venables would be HC because venables was telling HS players he may end up at arkansas.
venables didn't become HC, but he may still be headed here like BoarEd said

And Norvell, and Kiffin, and Strong.

On that I hope he's right, but either he isn't confident in the info he is supposedly getting himself, or he isn't getting good info, because Morris wasn't in his top 3, nor did he name Morris in the who he thinks thread. So if everything he's been told has happened, why wasn't he right on any of it?
Posted on 12/8/17 at 7:54 am to troyt37
He knew it was Morris all along, just playing it up that it was Venables, Kiffin, Norvel, or Strong. Just trying to keep everyone off the scent just like everyone in the know wanted
Well played!

Dude, I said from the get-go it wouldn't be Norvell. I also said it wouldn't be Gus. I'm not gonna argue this with anyone anymore.
The only thing I said about Morris is that the science nerds don't like him because of his analytic numbers. Despite this I'm pretty pleased with Morris so far. Looks like the science nerds may have gotten that wrong.
Let's just wait and see who the DC is and we can have this argument again if you want. I'll take the time to pull out every goddamn post and quote them if need be.

Please go ahead and do that. Everything I saw from you seemed to suggest you were the utmost of insiders and predictions of negativity alluding to Strong etc.

"The utmost of insiders?"
Lol. No, what I was trying to say (maybe poorly) is that there were competing factions in all of this. That the "sauces" were fighting amongst themselves. Some folks wanted Gus or Norvell and some other folks wanted Venables and a couple other candidates.
I honestly didn't think much about Venables until his name started popping up on sports talk. At that point I knew he was gaining traction on the hill and I threw my support behind him because I think he is great.
I think a lot of folks are upset because I was adamant that it wouldn't be Gus. When people who's job it is to draw up contracts for this shite say, "he ain't worth a frickin penny" you can pretty much rule him out.
Gus never actually had an offer, is my guess. There were folks completely against that shite from the get-go .
