By that logic we should throw smith, HH, wood and tygert tonight.

There’s no difference losing game one or game three at this point. Start bybee tonight and only burn our top arms if it’s close late.

I see your point and we’ll agree to disagree.

You have to set yourself up to win three straight which starts as soon as this weather delay is over.

Winning one doesn’t mean shite if you blow your load and have nothing for the next game or the game after that.

Most important is getting to a game three as anything can happen, but it’d likely be a bullpen game for us if we start tygart tonight

No it’s a 3 game season. Winning one game doesn’t mean shite. We have to win against a midweek team and a sec level team. Plan your pitching accordingly.

DVH is a big “win the one in front of you” coach. I believe in it too, especially at the college level where there’s such a variance from game to game and nothing is guaranteed.

Also, to your point about offense, simply outscoring SC isn’t a given right now considering the fact our bats have been somewhat cool lately.

We got outhit in our first game against SC and were gifted several runs by way of walks and HBPs.

That's a good strategy for conference play where winning 2/3 is a good result. We more or less have to play for a sweep now.

I’d be completely on board with starting tygart tonight if we were playing TCU three times vs the current situation.

Smith isn’t throwing twice in same day. And if it comes down to throwing those guys to win, you absolutely would.

You worry about the current game now and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

There is no huge sum of arms in the bullpen during NCAAt play. You’ve got the arms on your tournament roster and that’s it. You’ll throw the bullpen to finish this game and then going forward, you’ll need max innings from your starters or you’re toast.

Throwing two bullpen games in a row today is not possible. There aren’t enough arms on the roster. You’ll start Tygart tonight because he is what you’ve got and he is your best chance to win today.

Right on cue, our bats are ice cold.

Since Josenberger’s leadoff HR, we’ve had 3 hits.

Doesn’t matter if TCU scores 14, 24, or 4, we can’t do anything at the plate this game.

Edit: and right as I post that, Josenberger hits a 2 run homer

Better off losing 14-3 than 3-2… IF we can get them to use some bullpen arms

But that’s the thing, they’re not going to use any bullpen arms when up 10+.

I was hoping the weather delay would make them swap pitchers

The kid is diving out over the plate to the point he almost got hit with what should have been called a strike. What do we do? Pitch him away on the next pitch

Another weather delay.

The elimination game is really not setting up well for us given that SC will have had nearly 24 hours of rest whereas we’ll be coming off a 4+ hour grinder with multiple delays.

Need to win tonight, win game 1 tomorrow with TCU and then pray for all types of weather hell to break loose.

I’d like to see McGlaughlin somewhere in the lineup in tonight’s game. Time to maybe give up some defense for offense.

Wish he could catch.

Surely he could play first, or Cali could play first and McLaughlin play third. Slavens is back to being hot garbage
