I'll say Arkansas for shits and giggles

I would say he is going to LSU regardless.
I think so too, and LSU fans will never admit it (although a few seem a little edgy about it), but we gave LSU a serious threat for one of their coveted instate prospects.
Fulton to Florida seems to be their main concern right now.

Come on down Mr. Porter!

Realistically, anybody got a rough feel of what our chances are? Two home state schools and us...

Those schools both expect to land him. I don't think anyone has a clue though because you can probably count how many times he's talked to reporters on one hand.

FAYETTEVILLE — Bret Bielema gave some insight into his sales pitch to get Alex Collins to return to the Razorbacks for his senior season on the Paul Finebaum Show Friday.
The Arkansas coach flew to Florida with running backs coach Jemal Singleton and academic coordinator Chris Johnson to meet with Collins on Wednesday.
Although the star running back still hasn't made a decision, Bielema said Collins enjoyed seeing Johnson.
"He lit up like a Christmas tree when he saw Chris because he knows how much he's helped him in the academic world," Bielema said. "I think one of the biggest factors we have going for us on Alex to return is he wants to get that degree.
"He wants to get something that maybe at one point in his life he didn't think was possible."
Also on the Finebaum show, Bielema talked about accomplishments he could achieve if he returned to school, which he presumably gave Collins during their meeting.
Collins could:
-become the first SEC player and one of only nine players in NCAA history with four 1,000-yard seasons
-break Herschel Walker's all-time rushing record with 1,557 yards next season
-become the first SEC player with two 20-touchdown seasons
-break Tim Tebow's all-time rushing touchdown record with 22 touchdowns next season
Tight end Hunter Henry and offensive lineman Denver Kirkland have already announced they will skip their senior seasons.
If he leaves, Collins would be the sixth-best running back available in April's draft, according to ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL Draft is Jan. 18.

I don't know if he can improve his draft stock enough to justify coming back another year. The RB draft is going to be crowded next year too.

The staff appear to be selling him on his degree being worth more to future earnings than the NFL draft, which is the case for the majority of RBs in the league at this time.

Coming back and finishing a degree after your 4 year NFL stint is over is easily doable.

But that's assuming a lot of unknowns come true.
What he can control right now is getting his degree. Meanwhile the future is uncertain

^^^^^^
Earlier itt or another someone listed some of the rookie contracts of guys drafted +-3rd round. I wonder how much an insurance policy would cost that might mitigate the risk.

the risk.
that's the key. it really comes down to whatever alex is willing to risk.

As I stated in the other thread, the value of the publicity from getting that 4th 1,000 yard season and setting a slew of records will be invaluable to him in the post-football business world that he'll live in for 50-60+ years.
His name will be on ESPN game graphics for decades, he'll be thought of as an absolute legend to have done it in an era of SEC dominance.
brb. gonna write an article on this perspective on 4thand25, y'all retweet the everliving shite out of it.

Collins is in a unique position regarding college record setting, an angle I've not considered earlier.
A shot at the college records we're discussing would certainly make him a famous sports celebrity for decades to come.

Relentlessly scouring the Internet to contribute here, I found an obscure website called hogsville where some guy going by RD said he hoped to have some good news to report soon. Non o-line related.
Soon.
Soon.
Posted on 1/9/16 at 10:01 am to PygmalionEffect
That probably explains the guy on 247 starting the thread about good news coming soon.
Posted on 1/9/16 at 10:02 am to TheCheshireHog
What good news is that going to be? Collins?
Posted on 1/9/16 at 10:07 am to Hawgeye
I think that's what he's implying. The thread on 247 is so vague that they could say it was about anything.

The question to ask is does he want to be a legend or thought of as a guy that was #2 most of his career but racked up stats in Bielema's system. A system RB that his mom ran off w/ his LOI to try and keep him from going to Arkansas.
