Yep. We are slooooow at WR.
They are definitely recruiting speed. All three WR commits we have are probably faster than anyone on the roster except for Hartfield and Hawkins. Unfortunately, Hawkins looks to be too small to be able to put his speed to us. He can't get off the line quick enough against SEC DB's.

Hawkins has good speed, but he hasn't proven to me that he can catch consistently.
ETA: Well, other than maybe HH, none of them have.
EETA: Mekale McKay looking good at Cincinnati, wish he would have stayed.

We're slow in the secondary too and our LBs rival turtles.

Petrino favored height and size over speed. The whole time he talked about getting "longer", you would be beaten down on places like HiV if you questioned if these guys would be fast enough for SEC play. Even the linemen in the SEC are fast for their position, that has long been the difference in other conferences and "SEC speed".
Now we are seeing a team with "big10" speed everywhere, except the big10 has long had fast WRs.
One thing about Nutt, he might not have gotten guys with size at a position like LB, but he did get guys who had speed. I would rather have speed than size at that position with the way the offenses are going now days, not too many teams are wanting to line up and run down your throat 70% of the time where size would trump speed. One thing about Freeze and Ole Miss is he did have speed to turn things around for them, especially with his system which is actually similar to what Nutt started to run when Masoli transferred there, it appeared to me he was wanting to switch offensive philosophies to the read option from the down hill running he had used previously.

I was able to turn the conversation to the Hogs when I was talking to the SMU coach(who had watched plenty of Arkansas/Rutgers film,) and Stallings (who is an SEC man through and through.)
Both of these coaches were appalled at how slow we are.
"There schemes are fine, and the coaches are well-respected, but I've never seen an Arkansas team that slow. Petrino left them nothing, which was no surprise to anyone in the college coaching world. It'll take a few years to pull that team together."
I sure hope we are getting some speed this year
thanks for the info.
sounds like they hit the nail on the head...

Not surprised. I'm sure we'll have some decommits if we keep losing.
He wasn't 100% to begin with either. I talked to a regional rivals guy who speaks with him and he said Jovan was still keeping his options open and would take OV's. This was before the season even started.

I think I am just going to walk away from this year and focus on graduating in December. Would make my life much more peaceful and my GPA much better.

That's fricking pathetic. Thanks, arse-face-Petrino. But it just backs up what a few of us were saying last year (lack of talent).
