They say he needs to work on running through the tackles instead of bouncing it outside all the time. In reality if he wants to improve his ranking and projection he needs to learn how to commit to Texas or Alabama.

Forgot about him. I was only using Rivals which didn't think to highly of him despite his huge offer list. He was only a three star in their eyes.

All three of the other sites had him as a 4*

ESPN - #66 overall
247 - #75 overall
Scout - 4* outside of top 250.

UA SPORTS INFORMATION

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas football team has added wide receiver Mekale McKay (6-6, 195, Louisville, Ky.) to its 2012 signing class, head coach Bobby Petrino announced Thursday."We are excited to add Mekale to what we feel like is a very fast and athletic class," said Coach Petrino. Mekale is a big, strong receiver with great hands who has an extremely physical style of play. We've led the SEC in passing the last three seasons and our goal each year is to accomplish that. Mekale joins a talented group of incoming receivers that combine to bring a number of different strengths to the field."

McKay was a two-sport standout at Moore High School, excelling on the gridiron and on the basketball team.

He was ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in Kentucky and as the No. 48 wide receiver in the country by 247Sports.com, and ESPN tabbed him as the second-team all-state forward in basketball prior to his senior season. As a senior, he was a first-team all-district selection and earned honorable-mention all-state accolades after catching 38 passes for 894 yards and 13 touchdowns. In his junior season, he was named first-team all-district as he helped lead the Mustangs to the second round of the state playoffs by recording their first playoff win since 2001. He also was an all-region performer in basketball during his junior season.

McKay chose Arkansas over Ole Miss, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisville, Cincinnati and Indiana among others for football and many other schools for basketball. n

Mekale McKay article

quote:

Moore High School two-sport star Mekale McKay signed his letter-of-intent on Thursday to play football for Petrino at Arkansas. The 6-foot-6 McKay said he would also get the opportunity to walk-on for the Razorback basketball team.

“I am just so happy,” McKay told The Courier-Journal. “I told every program that I wanted to play both sports, I don’t want to sell myself short. They were all about that and I am just so excited to be a Razorback.”

McKay, who had 38 catches for 894 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior in football, is considered one of the state’s top gridiron prospects.

“The intelligence of the system with the coaching staff and players was really impressive,” McKay said. “Those guys do an excellent job with formation and confusion of the defense. They go hard every day like it’s a game day.

“I live by the rule when you work hard everything pays off. I can’t wait.”
