- 11:51 a.m. UPDATE: Tennessee OL commit Brett Kendrick tells me he doesn't think he'll be visiting Arkansas after all. It would appear that's the same case for WR Josh Smith, his teammate and fellow UT commit. They visited Tennessee this weekend and appear to be very solid to the Vols.

- WR Corey Cooper just tweeted that he's ready for his Arkansas official with Alex Collins this weekend. He also included Austin Allen in the tweet, but obviously Austin took his official this past weekend.

Gotta love Rivals.

- Top TE at UU All-American game
- Team Captain

Drops 40+ spots out of the top 100.

Yeah I was pretty blown away by his film considering he isn't on any of the recruiting sites at all. He looks like a very, very good pickup.

12:09 UPDATE: Just talked to Cooper about his upcoming visit to Fayetteville (story will run tomorrow). He said he spoke with Arkansas last night and he feels pretty confident that a committable offer will come on this weekend's visit. He said if they do offer he'll have to go home and talk things over with his family and hopefully have a decision made by signing day. George McDonald is making a strong push for Syracuse and is trying to get the last visit. Cooper said he's excited about visiting with Collins because he, Collins and Austin Allen formed a nice trio at the Semper Fi AA game a few weeks ago. Very good kid, fun to talk to.

1:26 UPDATE: A.J. Tucker of Little Rock Central just texted me to say that Barry Lunney Jr. has contacted him and plans to see him later this week. Lunney requested A.J.'s highlights. Not sure that they'll offer A.J. but he's very excited just to hear from the Hogs. Good player. Can play WR or DB in college. He'll keep me posted on this.

Jeremy Sprinkle - 6'6 215 - RS FR - assuming he stays here

Why do you guys seem to be writing off Sprinkle? He redshirted last year, he has time to bulk up (I wouldn't think that 215 is correct anyway).
He's a very good athlete.
If TE gets too crowded, he could certainly contribute at rush end I think.

My comment there was saying assuming he stays at TE. He could easily be moved to a different position like End or even used as a bigger WR.

I do however think we will start getting a better caliber TE under this staff and that Sprinkle and Voelzke could get passed by at the position because of this. That's just pure guessing on my part though. He could easily blossom in to an All-SEC TE which would be fine by me.

I've been following Arinze on twitter for about a week. A bunch of the players hyped him up, I think he came in with Tavares.

Knoxville kids, those were hard to flip to begin with. I''m sure they were told if you take that visit to Arkansas your schollies are no longer considered an option here at Tennessee.

2:27 update

Running back Denzell Evans of Bellaire, Tx. said Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman and running backs coach Joel Thomas are about to visit with him and offensive lineman Dewayne Johnson in minutes.

Pittman is laying the smack down on his candy arse for the Nebraska commit before visiting us.

247 Update on coaches visit with Denzell Evans:

quote:

Joel Thomas and Sam Pittman just now left the home of Bellaire, Texas, RB Denzell Evans. Denzell said it was a good visit, and he likes what he's heard from Arkansas. He understands the situation Arkansas is in with RB recruiting, but says if the Hogs offer, he's committing.

He was going to visit Friday, but they decided to move the visit back to Feb. 1.

back up plan. What's been all the news about Collin's visit to Miami over the weekend?

addendum: Also appears that Jamel James won't be given the time of day.

The Rivals bias is obvious even to the most pedestrian of internet fans... such as myself.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for the information you provide here which rarely gets recognized but is so appreciated by the flagshippers in training.

Definitely a backup plan. I imagine they'll bring in Evans, Woodley and maybe Chestnut that last week if they don't get the warm fuzzies from Collins this weekend.

Collins didn't sound blown away by his Miami visit in the articles I've read which is good for us. I know some of the Miami folks thought that he would commit on his visit. He seems nervous about their pending sanctions.

Us getting him on campus is a big deal. It'll be tough to get him out of Florida but I would say we have a decent chance. We have everything he says he's looking for (run oriented, feature back system, not much competition on the depth chart) but we are extremely far from home. If we were closer to Florida I would say we could easily be the favorites but I feel like distance is going to be a factor.

5:01 UPDATE: Just confirmed with 4-star OL Denver Kirkland's father that he still plans to visit Arkansas this weekend. They just confirmed it with Coach Shannon. I know there was a report elsewhere that said he wasn't visiting Arkansas this weekend, but he is.
