which one of the two is a highschooler and which is a proven SEC back?
what does that have to do with coming off an injury?
I didn't say tenpenny would be all sec did I?
ETA: Besides, i think the two relate pretty well.
Tenpenny had a great Sophomore HS year... had a broken ankle and missed junior season... is expected to come back 100% and have a good Senior season.
Sound alot like Davis, just not on the same level.
If you wanna base how good Davis will be at the SEC level off his sophomore season after a similar injury, then you should base how good tenpenny will be at the HS level off his sophomore season coming off a similar injury.
If he sucks during his senior season, his stock will drop. (that goes for either of them)

Good, not great. He averaged 93 YPG.
TBH, Nobody even knew who he was before he went to the Combine and surprised everybody. Nobody outside of NLR and the opposing coaches and fans has even see him play RB, he has no video.

I have video in my sticky thread on this page of him. I guess I'm that awesome. (3 links FWIW)

Last summer I boldy predicted Tenpenny to be Arkansas' next 5 star. It wasn't that big of a reach he's got the physical tools and he'll be turned into a defensive back and be a NFL'r for a long time barring the injury bug.
Yet, if he has another set back Saban will part ways last minute. The writing was on the wall when Landon Collins committed, there was an article out about Tenpenny and Collins being pretty tight and talk of them wanting to play together.
It is what it is. Most of the successful kids I grew up with they/we got the heck out of Arkansas the first chance we could. I love being back home but the opportunities for me to accomplish what I want aren't gonna happen there. I see the same thing with Dyer, Goodwin, Tenpenny etc.
It just sucks because those guys would have made a big impact on the field for the Hogs and been hometown heroes for life. We can shift recruiting focus to the Metroplex and not worry about LR b/c there's so much talent coming out of that area in Texas it's ridiculous. A big chunk of the university's growth is North Texas kids getting a tuition waiver.

Tenpenny got rated so highly because of his combine performance. He did that before he got hurt. Ronnie Wingo would perform very well in a combine setting, too, but he doesn't have the vision to be a RB.
Tenpenny could very well end up being the #1 RB in the country if he has a breakout senior year. And I would have no problem with that. It just doesn't make sense that he would have a good sophomore (not elite by any stretch of the imagination), have a great combine, get hurt severely, then get evaluated as the 3rd best RB.
I think that his situation differs from Knile's in that they would both test out extremely well in a combine setting, but KD has also shown that he can be an elite level RB against his peers. Tenpenny's not really reached that level yet in his high school career.
With that said, I finally watched Jamel James' junior highlights this morning. That kid will make me feel just fine about losing Tenpenny. I don't care if he ends up a 3*. He's playing against some of the hardest competition that's out there, running people over, etc. Looks like Mark Ingram to me a little bit, just bigger. Very hard to bring down.
Do we have to worry about any schools in particular as far as keeping James committed?
Here's Jamel James JR highlights if anyone's interested

So is Tenpenny just an athletic freak of nature and that is why he is being rated so high? because i'll take a good athlete with the instincts and already built in skills. We always seem to bust with those athlete types anyways.

Essentially, yes. He's being rated so highly based on his combine performance. That's awesome. Just hasn't shown all that much as a RB, yet. That's the perplexing thing about his high rating. I think he should be closer to 100 with a chance to move up significantly during the year as he shows more during games.

Oh, haven't you heard? James is fat and slow now.
He weighed in at 5-11/222 after his season was over.

He also says he busts it outside too much
Like every fricking high school RB doesn't do that?
Lache Seastrunk was the king of this yet stayed at his 5* status and was undersized on top of that

In his highlight video I saw literally two plays where he went outside right off the bat. He followed his blockers until the 2nd level almost every time, and several runs right up the gut.
They're just making shite up. Like yesterday they said they haven't seen Austin Allen yet, but it was a tough decision to keep him out of the top 250. Wtf?

We're looking at some, we're also getting a visit from 6-7 Ryan Taylor from Hargrave. Big guy with good handles and can rebound. Signed with Louisville out of High School.
