Y'all are probably better than reading these things than me, but I interpret this as Winston is #1 at the other CB spot. Is that right?
Depth Chart
Sorry if it's a stupid question, but my husband knows WAAAAAAY less about football than I do, and with my Dad gone, I don't have anyone I can ask without looking like an idiot!

Winton should be the field corner this year and Mitchel should be the boundary.
I think they worked worked them both on the field side during spring ball to 1) give Mitchel more reps on the tougher side and 2) to give the younger guys more reps in general.
Thats just my opinion on the matter. There is no way that it won't be those two starting however no matter where they worked in the spring.

Gotcha...so is the field corner considered the #2 CB (like in Ultimate's post) since it's not on the short side of the field?

No field is the wide side of the field. Boundary is the short side. You tend to put your better cover corner over there.
I'm going off the belief that I truly think DW will be drastically improved this year with the new coaching. With 3 years of actual field experience he should at least start there but Tevin may still beat him out because he seems like the best CB thats come through since Houston.

Whew! Don't make me start doubting the things I do know (or can easily find through Google)!

I'm really liking the possibilities our Secondary has this year.
Mitchel/Winston with Bennett at Safety.
However, the other safety spot and our LB's not named Alonzo

If I were an opposing team's TE, I'd be salivating over our middle of the field non-defense.
Do you think Haynes has finally managed to teach our secondary to TURN YOUR frickING HEAD when the ball is in the air? That's the most common thing screamed at my house while we're on defense, anyway...

FWIW, I thought our D looked great in the Cotton Bowl. Granted it was against a shitty K-state team that would've finished about 6-6 in the SEC or worse, but I still have hopes that we'll be improved this year, especially in the secondary

I agree...was really worried that QB would give us fits. D looked much improved. Or at least, what I could tell from the very top row of the stadium!

Yeah im excited to see what he can do. I think that was a smart move. Anyone think otha peters is good enough to start as a freshman?
Rasner could be a wild card at the other safety spot. I could see him being really good or bad in coverage

I do. He is physically more gifted than the guys he is going against for that outside spot but its just a question of can he get there mentally. Hopefully he is hitting the weight room hard this summer.

Rather set myself up with that one, didn't I?
