Mississippi State, who we should be playing yearly anyway

People aren’t getting it. It’s not about how it would’ve helped/hurt us this year. The thought was a strong SOS schedule insulates us to a degree and gives us the benefit of the doubt. That’s obviously not the case, so why even taking a chance by adding Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc.?

This. Not sure how people aren’t understanding this. There is absolutely zero incentive to exposure yourself to any risk OOC. There is zero reason we should be playing @FSU week 1 next year. It’s an absolute lose/lose.

Think the risk reward is there for scheduling the likes of Georgia and other top tier competition.
Obviously more money and publicity for the school.
Especially if we're trying to prove you belong as a contender.
However the risk is far more now that SOS doesn't factor in as much per the committee decision making trend.

Not this year but going forward you can play 3 cupcakes and go 6-2 in conference and get in every year. The real benefit is those cupcakes are like by weeks so the grind of conference play is mitigated a bit.
