Loaded 2008 recruiting class fueled Bama's rise
quote:

The 2008 class has provided the backbone for college football's newest dynasty. The Crimson Tide, 60-7 since the start of the 2008 season, are one victory from a third national title in four years. That would be a first in the BCS era, which began in 1998.

quote:

Five members of the class have been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft: defensive tackle Marcell Dareus (third overall in 2011), wide receiver Julio Jones (sixth overall in 2011), safety Mark Barron (seventh overall in 2012), linebacker Dont'a Hightower (25th overall in 2012) and running back Mark Ingram (28th overall in 2011).

Not to mention Barret Jones, Robert Lester, and Damion Square were also in that class.

When it's all said and done the '09 class will likely have just as many if not more first round picks. Those 2 classes put this barge into motion though

That may be the best recruiting class ever.Coach Saban sat in their living rooms and told those recruits and their families the truth.Come to Bama.Work hard.If you're good enough to play right away,you will.We can win a National Championship.All true.

Had the greatest quote in the history of Bama football:

"Man, you don't go to Texas to win no championships. You go to BAMA."

This was right after he committed to Bama in early 2008. At the time, there was nothing evident to back this statement up...Texas had just won the NC only 2 years earlier. And we had just lost 6 games.

Fast forward to Square's 2nd year, we beat Texas for the NC. The next year Texas goes 5-7. The next year they go 8-5 and Square wins his 2nd NC. The next year, they go 9-4 and Square is about to win his 3rd NC.

Square = 3
Texas = 0
