The Rundown
* The top-48 declared student-athletes will compete at either the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville, Fla., or at the NCAA West Round at College Station, Texas, May 28-31
* The week's competition will serve as an advancement to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 11-14, in Eugene, Ore.
* The top-12 student-athletes in each event, plus the relay teams, from each First Round competition site will advance to the national meet
* Combined events (heptathlon and decathlon) are not contested at the First Round sites, as the top-24 declared student-athletes, in both the heptathlon and the decathlon, are advanced directly to Eugene, Ore.
* At both the First Round sites and at the NCAA Championships, the men will compete Wednesday and Friday, with the women's competition being held Thursday and Saturday
* Preliminary track events will take place Wednesday and Thursday, respectively

Former NCAA 1500m record holder Eliud Kipsang has passed away
He suffered cardiac arrest and despite medical efforts, died on June 10, 2025.
He held the NCAA Record of 3:33.74 until it was broken this year by Liam Murphy and turned pro with Adidas after competing for Alabama between 2020 and 2023.

A trio of Alabama track and field student-athletes accumulated All-America honors on the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
The men's shot put duo of Christopher Crawford (12th; 18.94m | 62-1.75) and Trevor Gunzell (14th; 18.91m | 62-0.50) gathered top-15 finishes in their first of two events during the week. The pair will return to Hayward Field Friday for the men's discus event final, alongside teammate Christopher Young. On the track, Dismus Lokira captured yet another top-15 finish for the Tide, placing 11th in the men's 10,000m (29:13.51) for his NCAA Championships debut.
In the preliminary track events, the Crimson Tide advanced to event finals in the 400m and the 4x400-meter relay. Samuel Ogazi (400m, 44.77) clocked the fastest 400-meter time of the entire semifinals, before he returned to the track as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team which finished second in its heat, via a 3:03.58 performance.
Thursday will feature the start of the women's competition, with reigning steeplechase national champion Doris Lemngole highlighting the day. Lemngole's semifinal heat will begin at 6:38 p.m. CT to kickstart the Crimson Tide's evening of six total events, three track events and three field events.

Friday will also feature two track event finals for the Crimson Tide, as the 2025 Southeastern Conference champion and 2024 Paris Olympic finalist competes in both. Samuel Ogazi will compete in the 400-meter race (8:02 p.m.) before returning to the track later in the evening as a member of UA's 4x400-meter relay squad (9:21 p.m.).
The Crimson Tide heads into the third day with the UA women tied for 26th place with three points.

In the Crimson Tide's lone field event final of the day, the discus trio of Christopher Crawford (59.08m | 193-10), Trevor Gunzell (57.52m | 188-8) and Christopher Young (57.23m | 187-9) all amassed Second Team All-America honors. Crawford would finish just shy of the podium in ninth, while Gunzell and Young finished 14th and 15th, respectively. Ogazi returned to the track as a member for UA's 4x400-meter relay contingent, along with Donald Chiyangwa, Oussama El Bouchayby and Peter Diebold, as the group clocked a season-best, sixth-place finish of 3:02.17.
Alabama's Katelyn Adel began her heptathlon journey Friday with a pair of PR-setting performances, first with a 14.12 showing in the 100-meter hurdles, followed by a 24.65 sprint in the 200m. Before the first day was done, Adel captured a sixth-place finish (1.72m | 5-7.75) in the high jump.
Adel will return to the track Saturday for the conclusion of the women's heptathlon (5:30 p.m. CT), before Crimson Tide teammates Miracle Ailes (women's high jump, 7:30 p.m.) and reigning national champion Doris Lemngole (women's steeplechase, 8:24 p.m.) compete in their respective event finals.
