Then why do they only pay them 35,000 a year? Some can for sure make more than that going overseas. They don't care enough about 3rd year college players to pay them a lot to lure them out of college, they get enough of those guys every year regardless with guy who enter the draft after their senior seasons like Donta Hall.

There are very few guys the g league is gonna offer a boatload of money to, and that's guys like Jalen green who are likely lottery picks, and there are only 4 or 5 of those a year. That's why I say you'll probably see 5 pr so players skip college and go to the g league a year, because that's all they are gonna offer huge money to.

For you saying that there is no way a top player would turn down g league money to go to college then why did only two of eight accept the G league offer over going to college?

Recruits that have accepted the G-League offer:

Jalen Green
Isaiah Todd

Recruits that chose college over the G league offer

Evan Mobley
Dalen Terry
Nimari Burnett
Cliff Omoruyi
Terrence Clarke
Ziaire Williams

They just started offering big money. We’ll get a better idea of things next year

I dont see how they just started it as being a reason that most players offered it turned it down this year. They were offered the contracts over 6 months ago, before any of them committed and they still chose college. IMO they likely will turn it down next year too aside from a couple who are offered the huge sum like Jalen Green was.

It looks like Greg Brown is gonna turn down a 400,000 offer from the G league to go to Texas.

Quote from an NBA GM on the subject from Jeff Goodman's article.

quote:

I spoke to multiple NBA general managers and executives on Thursday, and they were skeptical of the G League’s plan.

“I don’t really understand it, but I’ll reserve judgment until we have all the facts,” one GM told me. “All I’ll say is that no one wants to be in the G League, not the players or the coaches. No one.”

After signing prep star Jalen Green on Thursday and reportedly adding former Michigan commit Isaiah Todd, the development league has been linked to a number of high school stars, including 6-foot-9 Texas power forward Greg Brown and 7-1 big man Kai Sotto, a native of the Philippines.

The 6-foot-5 Green will reportedly make $500,000 next year playing for a new team which will be unaffiliated with any existing NBA G League franchise or NBA team. It was first reported in this space on Tuesday that Green was considering skipping college for a six-figure deal in the G League.

His new team will reportedly play a limited 20-game schedule before Green and the team’s other young stars become eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft.

Greg Brown Sr. said Thursday evening that the G League reached out two months ago but that the family has “not spoken with them in two months.”

Brown, a senior at Vandegrift (TX) High School, is poised to announce April 24. His father said Brown is considering Kentucky, Memphis, Texas, Michigan and Auburn as well as the G League and playing overseas.

I read an article that said the Gleague just starting slinging these big buck offers output maybe 2 weeks ago.

Maybe 6 months ago they were offered the then normal 125,000.

Look we don’t see eye to eye on this, and neither of us are going to change our minds. There’s no use in screwing up the thread Repeating the same fricking arguments over and over, that have been made for the last 2 pages.

Seems they offered some as early as November and offered some a month or two ago. If they really did offer Green the money a month ago like he claims, the late timing of it sure didn't effect his decision.

I don't see how when they were offered would matter on if they turn it down or not. "Look I would've taken you're 200,000 to go to the G league over college if you had offered it a year before I signed, but you offering it two months before makes me have to turn it down" that makes no sense.
If they thought the g league money was worth missing college over they would've still taken it two months before they signed with a college.

Players before this already had the option of not going to college and playing overseas and getting like 500,000 and only one player did that last year.

True that we aren't going to see eye to eye on it.

We will see what happens next year, if there are 15 players who skip college to go to the g league I will admit I was wrong, but I don't see it happening.

No you won’t. You’ll make up excuses or completely change your opinion and hope everyone forgets that you said all of this.

Predicted that we would get Primo when you were busy freaking out over a Cecil Hurt tweet and acting like we wouldn't.

Predicted we would get Bruner.

The only prediction you've been right about was that we wouldn't make the NCAAT and you were only right because we had 6 injuries and Quinerly's waiver got denied.

I'd say you have a ways to go to catch up with me in the good prediction department.

I really didn’t even remember that I’d still take Cecil’s word over yours though.

Now go back to last summer. You had us as a lock for a number of guys. The guy that went to Texas Tech is one of them.

I never said we were a lock for any of those guys.

Search Nimari Burnetts name in the search and it doesn't show me mentioning his name in here before yesterday, and that was about him getting the G league offer.

Pretty hard for me to say he is a lock if I had never talked about him on this board before yesterday.

I’m pretty pissed off. I was going through my bookmarks and I had two posts from FES that were really good and for some reason I can’t find them now. Maybe I screwed em up when I was drinking or something, damn

I only posted on this board 11 times from the end of July last year til November 13th when signing day was so I am not sure when I was making all these lock predictions.

I’m not hunting. Quit flattering yourself. I’m looking through my own bookmarks. I don’t remember marking most of them. Gotta stop drinking and bookmarking.
