Was told Bruner should commit sometime this week with it being a dead heat between Alabama and Baylor.

That concerns me. Baylor isn’t known for being “clean”.

Side note, I’ll be glad to see some penalties handed down to schools. I wanna see if it’s worth the risk.

Pretty much opposite style of play, Baylor is slow paced, defensive minded team.

If Bruner wants to improve his draft stock like he said I think he should come to Alabama and show how good of a ball handler and shooter he is. People already know he is a great defender.

When did you start following recruiting? This is entirely inaccurate. Memphis overcame Alabama in the CB lead June 14th of 2018 according to Jerry Meyer. Just a week prior we had 100% of the vote. Watford watched all of our basketball games. Hard to find a 5-star kid more of a fan of a school than Watford was of us. LINK

Yea but thats based in him being a Bama fan. Lots of people love our football program and dont care about basketball

As I said before, I provided him with links to watch our basketball team play the nobodies during non-conference play. He watched and tweeted about most every game we played. If money weren’t involved, I have a very hard time believing he would have played anywhere else.

Davidson's family seems to want J.D. to stay close to home. Completely different situations, not even worth comparing.

Not worth comparing because you said so? I’m glad your interest in recruiting has been sparked, but don’t pretend to know what was going on before you started following it closely.

He got payed to play for mountain brook and was getting crystal balls for Memphis before Avery got fired. It was clear he was gonna go to the highest bidder way before we missed the tourney and Avery got fired. He had crystal balls for Memphis on 247 back in june 2018, Avery didnt get fired til March 2019.

It may be your opinion that at one time Alabama led, but the evidence says he was going to go to whoever paid him to go there. That was clear to me early on, I never felt like we were going to get him.

Ultimately Avery was fired and there was no hope then. If Alabama made the tournament and Avery didn’t get fired, Watford was going to Alabama.

His final three were LSU, Memphis, and Alabama. I don't buy that he would have came here had his family not been payed. Even if Avery hadn't been fired, once LSU came in with that strong arse offer in April he would've been gone to LSU imo.

Maybe he did want to come to Alabama personally but his parents were in control of that situation.

I also think Gottfried would have gotten Trendin’s brother, but Grant just didn’t know how to get things done at this level.

How is that similar to JD Davidson, you think he will go to whoever pays him the most as well? I dont get what Watford had to do with Davidson.

All I said was I’m not going to get my hopes up. Then as you always do when you see something the slightest bit negative you tried to make me feel silly for bringing up Watford, but made the mistake of using incorrect information showing your newness to following recruiting. At the same point in their respective recruitments Alabama had multiple CBs for Watford and was considered a very heavy Bama lean. Memphis becoming heavily involved is not a comforting similarity.

My point is the tide turns on a lot of these recruits and it’s okay for some of the more seasoned and scarred fans to take a more skeptical approach. We’ve caught too many hooks so we inspect the bait closely and wait until we’re sure it’s safe to consume. We’re okay with that. We’re not in need of an overly aggressive pep talk. And it’s okay you’re biting everything in site. Hopefully you won’t get those same scars.

Gottfried was actually the one that whiffed on Christian. It was the period of time where he stopped caring, but he probably would have landed him if he had been focused. Can’t say for sure though as I didn’t follow recruiting closely until the beginning of the Grant era.

This was said during the basketball season
quote:

I imagine it is hard to coach basketball here with the constant fan pessimism. It forced Grant out when he obviously was a good coach who just needed a couple of more years to learn on the job. He does have his current team ranked in the top 5 after all while we are changing coaches every three years and whining about how we are cursed.

Oats is getting tagged right now by every FOG in Alabama on twitter telling him how he sucks.

Maybe if we can support a coach for once for more than 8 months without turning on him they can get things turned around.

The same poster said this on 4/25/19. Some guys just like to talk out of both sides of their mouths

quote:

Grant has as much personality as a 2x4, I don't see how he was ever a good recruiter at Florida, I assume the reason was kids wanted to come play for Donovan because they were having success there. He was not a good hire.

Grant and Oats are two different people, I don't get why we people are comparing Oats to Anthony Grant at all.

Before Gottfried went crazy for coeds, we were getting some talent. When do you think that things started going sideways with Gottfried?

He also jumped your arse for saying that RJ Hampton was going overseas.

Guess where Hampton is playing?

That RJ Hampton kid that Memphis thinks they are getting is going overseas.

According to who? You?

Today he just released the final four schools he will be choosing between... he is not going overseas

Mistaken:

No, according to @RollHoopsRoll... He is about as reliable as it gets.

Why are you so fricking confrontational?

Response:

I am not confrontational, just telling you he is not going overseas. He just said today he will be choosing between Kansas, Kentucky, Texas Tech and Memphis.

Terrance Ferguson went further than just naming finalists before heading overseas. Not sure how anyone could forget that fiasco so quickly.
