Fair points, but in my opinion, you can get that same production and better with two solid transfers. I don’t want to see guys half arse it.
Their toughness and effort was a problem, especially on defense. I am all for getting a guy like Bruner who can block some shots and is a good defender.
Rojas should help a lot there too, so should Ambrose who is 6'7.
Adding a lot of big guards and forwards will help with rebounding for sure. I think we sign either Bruner, Miles, or some other guy who is 6'7 over.
Ellis, Primo, and Singleton are all 6'6 getting them would also help a lot with defense and rebounding. Singleton is a really good rebounder, had 5 games last year with over 10 rebounds.

I don’t get it. Historically, the 2 positions that were always solid in Bama basketball were a point guard who could distribute like Mo Williams or Terry Coner or Hollywood Robinson. We had a long line of them.
The other position we always had was a PF/C guy that would clean the glass and hold down the paint. Buck Johnson, Mule King, Robert Horry. We made a living with athletic bigs that could run the floor, rebound and protect the paint.
We need that back.

LINK ]Alabama sitting strong for Saquan Singleton (BamaOnLine)
ETA: He weighs 190-195 now.

Alabama men’s basketball added an immediate impact player on Friday in 247Sports five-star combo guard Josh Primo, but with Kira Lewis and John Petty declaring for the NBA Draft, Nate Oats and company aren’t done there. One name to keep an eye on in the next couple of weeks is JUCO guard LINK ]Saquan Singleton out Hutchinson C.C. (Kan.).
“I just talked to Nate Oats last night on the phone,” Singleton told BamaOnLine. “We speak almost every other day. He’s a great coach. He’s always checking in on his players, always wants the best. Alabama is definitely on my top radar right now.” Beyond speaking with Oats, Singleton maintains contact with UA assistant Bryan Hodgson as well.
Singleton told BOL that the Crimson Tide offered him about a month ago. UA caught wind of the talented junior college product when it was originally recruiting former Hutchinson All-American James Rojas. “He wasn’t recruiting me at Buffalo, but he saw me play and he knew me and Coach Bryan knew each other because he came out to see James Rojas,” Singleton said. “We built a connection there.”
The Bronx, N.Y. product says there are really four schools in play. “Main schools are Alabama for sure, TCU, Kansas State, and Pacific,” he said. Singleton is in a unique recruiting situation in that during a pivotal moment for his recruitment, he’s unable to take visits.
“Just talking to all the coaches and they’re telling me there might not be no visits,” he said. “Right now I’m going to have to just buckle up and do all my research online, keep talking to the coaches, and probably have to make a commitment from there. Right now it’s looking like no visits and I don’t want to wait last minute.”
One advantage beyond the relationship the UA coaches have already built with Singleton is the aforementioned Rojas in Singleton’s ear. “I’m real close (with James). That’s my boy,” Singleton said. “That’s my brother. He calls me every day to check in, just telling me the insight about Alabama and how it’s a great school and stuff." Singleton has seen enough from Alabama from afar to be impressed.
“Just Coach Oats and how admires the game and his passion for the game, how much he loves the game, and pushes the kids to get better,” Singleton said. “I know a couple kids on the team from last year. Speaking to them, just them telling me how good of a coach he is. And just Alabama, that’s a big team, SEC school, a lot of people, a lot of culture, just want to keep the Roll Tide going.”
As for a commitment date, Singleton is thinking sooner rather than later. “About a week and a half,” he said. Is there a leader? “It’s head to head with three schools right now — TCU, Pacific, and Alabama,” Singleton said. “But right now Alabama is one of the top schools.”
At 6-foot-6, 170 pounds, Singleton averaged 11.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this past season, shooting 54 percent from the field.
ETA: He weighs 190-195 now.

6’6” and 170 lbs? Geez, a strong wind will knock him over.

Thanks for posting, sounds like pretty much a Bama lock from what he said, plus he knows Quinerly and Rojas really well.

That's not right, on his official juco page he is listed at 190, he is also listed at 190 on Hutchinson CC's basketball roster..

He is a tough player. Really good rebounder for a guard, had a couple of games with 13 rebounds, and another couple with 12. He averaged 7 rebs a game.

Somebody give us the Saquan quotes and date please.
About a week and a half he said. Said it’s close with Pacific, TCU, and Alabama. Says he’s best friends with former teammate James Rojas. I’ve been told he will commit to Alabama very soon.

People said the same thing about Durant. He is long enough to be a problem.

He’s closer to 195 now. They used his high school weight on 247

Do you think Ambrose could play some 5 for us next year?

He is tall enough to but is a good enough shooter and ball handler that the staff sold him on developing him as a guard.
The plan is to have big athletic guys all over the court who can all rebound then get up the court in transition fast.

“They said how they see my game thoroughly and see my numbers and think they can develop me into a guard,” Ambrose-Hylton said about the Alabama staff. “They really love the way I play. Their playing style really fits me and what I can become.”
He might start off playing the 4, not sure if we would use him at the 5 in any situations or not, maybe Josh would know. I think he may need to get a bit stronger to play the 5.

Yea i dont see Ambrose playing to much big. I think that would be bad.

Put him in Snowden’s S&C program and get his weight up to 220-230 lb then definitely. Right now? More of a 3/ stretch 4.

How much 5 do you think Rojas plays this year if we don't get Bruner or Morgan?

I think a good bit if they don’t add Bruner. As long as he gets to about 225 lb. I’m not sure what he is after his knee injury, but he was pushing 225 beforehand. He was bulking up.
