Want.

On the one hand, I'm impressed we're in the mix with that list of schools. On the other hand, I'm thinking, how the hell do we pull this kid from that list of schools!

Isaiah White who we had reached out to committed to USC.

I think we are in good position. Gonzaga is loaded at the Forward/Center positions. He could come here and play 30 minutes a game. Us, Gonzaga, and Arkansas fit his playing style the best out of those final 6 schools.

Man if we get Bruner our roster all of a sudden looks pretty decent.

I want that Darius Myles kid. He is not very good on defense but that can be taught IMO. He is so damn smooth on offense

Rojas and Bruner actually remind me a bit of each other. Similar size and both are good shooters. Bruner is more athletic and a better rebounder but Rojas is a better scorer. Would like to have both of them though if possible.

Are we even in contention for Bediako anymore?

Seemed like we were recruiting him really hard and trying to get him to reclassify and he didn't want to and we backed off some. The last interview I saw of his he said Memphis and Maryland were recruiting him the hardest.
You'd think having Ambrose and Primo would help us some, Ambrose and Primo are friends, they visited Alabama together. Bediako and Ambrose were on the same team last year.

I think Bediako refusing to reclassify told the tale. He had a spot in this year’s class because of the immediate need. Next year, there’s plenty of guys we can go after at every level, high school, Juco, and transfer portal and time to evaluate the targets. I’m sure we still would want him next year but he won’t be an immediate pressing need like this year so Nate is backing off and will take the time to consider all options.

Can't blame him for not reclassifying, he wanted another year to improve and get stronger before he went to college.

Tell me why you should waste 2 scholarships on that type of production?
1. That's pretty solid production in our league.
2. Players tend to evolve and improve (under normal
coaching) as they progress through the system and a
new coach.
3. Depth and rotation keeps legs fresh. Less fatigue
helps prevent injuries.

Hopefully we can continue our Canadian pipeline next year. Seem like the one thing we can never get is a high rated big. We are always on the outside looking in and always sign a un athletic guy in stead.

There was a Sophomore on Primo's team that may end up being better then Primo. He is class of 2022 but could reclassify to 2021. He would be a huge get for us.
6'6 guard Zaiden Cross, averaged 22 points per game and 7 rebounds while shooting over 39% from three. Was the youngest player in the league to make the all star team and the third highest scorer in the league.

Fair points, but in my opinion, you can get that same production and better with two solid transfers. I don’t want to see guys half arse it. At least Smith tries. He stinks but effort isn’t a problem

From Oat's teleconference
quote:
To say that the injuries had nothing to do with it would be absurd. They obviously had something to do with it. With so many injuries, we just didn’t have enough depth with the perimeter players to withstand some of the injuries we had. Once Rojas and Juwan Gary both went down, and people forget Tevin Mack left us a little bit high and dry there after recruiting was done. Talking about big wings, we had Tevin leave us, Juwan has an ACL, Rojas has an ACL. We’re left with one, Herb. Herb gets hurt and really played injured for most of the year. The little stretch where he was not injured, he led the SEC in the assist-to-turnover ratio and then he breaks his wrist. . Then when Petty went out, he was the only big guard that was playing well for us. So, we’ve got to do a better job of getting our roster to look a lot more like what we want it to look like -- with more big guards, more guys that are skilled with some size on the perimeter to play. The injuries didn’t help.

The title of the article sounds like good news.

Obviously, a super disappointing loss. Probably buries our (NCAA) Tournament chances, which we probably knew — barring us winning the SEC Tournament, we’re probably not going to be playing in it,” the first-year coach said Tuesday night. “I thought we needed a lot better effort than what we gave. I’m frustrated as a guy that’s responsible for this whole program. I obviously didn’t do a good enough job getting these guys ready to play because we didn’t give an effort that demanded a win tonight.”
quote:
“You know, effort and all that stuff falls on the head coach and I’ve got to change the culture here and we’re working on it, (but) it’s obviously not changed enough,” Oats continued. “I’m as disappointed as the fans are, I know they’re super disappointed. I’m not going to sleep well tonight. Hopefully we’ve got a lot of players that are just as disappointed as we are and they make some changes, but we’ve got to get it changed.”
