You can't fix lazy or stupid. It's up to the player. If he was either one of those and unwilling to do anything about it, you have no choice but to cut him loose.

Nobody is arguing that. Im saying that he is a skilled big just was lazy or its something else. Thats why he is gone not because he isnt skilled.

No part of his tape in HS led me to believe that. There was nothing but dunks and 2 foot shots over a small defender. I was low on him when we landed him and saw a very high chance of this coming in his future. If I’m being honest, I thought Oats should have let him go to Buffalo.

Well 247 had him ranked the 109th player in last years class, so obviously they thought he looked pretty good and Hawkins had offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Mississippi State, and Kansas State, not just Buffalo.
It's convenient for people to come in here now and say "He has no talent and I knew it from day one." I don't remember any of you saying that when he committed.

I don’t know what issues Hawkins had here. I never watched any of his highlights, so I didn’t have an opinion on him. I figured he was good because of Oats wanting him. Midway through the season, I had the feeling he wasn’t very good because he wasn’t playing. Maybe it was a miss, maybe he was a bad fit, maybe he was lazy. I don’t know and it really doesn’t matter. I just hope we get a guy that can do something positive on the court next season

Well whether he is untalented, which his offers and ranking say otherwise, or lazy/bad attitude, he is probably gonna fail at whatever school he closes next as well unless something changes. I am glad we are getting rid of him too, whatever the reason.
I wish we would get rid of Smith but I understand we have to see how many players we can get to sign first before we go kicking everyone off. Wouldn't be good to lose 7 players and only be able to sign 4.

Crimson was just invested in him being a stud next year. I tried to tell him.

Buffalo was ranked in the top 15 most of the year in 2019 and went 32 and 4. In 2018 they went 27 and 9. You act like Buffalo was some no name school.
Go on and push your narrative that a player who was a borderline top 100 recruit in his class on 247 has no talent though and had to settle.
