Pre Herbs injury we had won 8 out of our last 10, since his injury we have lost 8 out of 12. That's a pretty big difference.

All I'm saying is that I would have had to witness this "big difference" actually play out.

Did you watch/remember that Kansas State game (the last win in the 8-2 streak you mention)?

The Ark, Tenn and Vandy games were carbon copies of that dismal performance.

In fact, I think we were around 2-9 this season in games decided in the last couple of minutes so beating K State and then losing to Ark, Tenn and Vandy kind of follows our entire season pattern.

(Not even sure I'd call that bad luck as much as just being very poor at executing in the final 2-3 minutes.)

I tend to see that 8-2 Dec-Jan stretch as being a bit inflated and would have had to actually witness us avoiding those lackluster Kansas St type home games against anyone who's not a NCAA tourney team.

I know that he’s hurting somewhere

When he first started posting, he was really positive. We’ve witnessed the decay of an Alabama basketball fan in real time

I worry about him. He always starts every season so positive and hopeful....and then Bama basketball happens

I really would like to see Forbes transfer out. He's a turn over waiting to happen. He hit a couple of threes this year but gives very little resistance on defense.

I'm not completely convinced Forbes won't turn into a good rotational player but, man, he has been extremely disappointing after having a good stretch of improvement mid-season.

His issue on defense is that he's lost and not effort nor athletic ability. 1 on 1 he actually defends pretty well, he tries to take charges and rebounds so I don't think he's a lost cause at that end at all.

He shoots pretty smoothly so his shot may well come around since it's often freshmen have trouble their first season.

However, the big question about whether he can become an SEC caliber player is that, right now, he's just about the weakest player with the ball I've seen in a long time. . . he simply cannot protect the ball against defenders poking/ripping it from him.

I guess the staff needs to decide how much they think he can improve in that area.

I’m indifferent on Forbes. I’m OK with him Leaving or Coming Back because I do think he will eventually be a good player.

So we were 12 and 7 when he got hurt and had 12 games left. To get to 19 wins we would've went 7 and 5 over those last 12 which is fair. I'm not disagreeing with you, but we would still have the SECT left and could play out way into a decent seed.

With 19 or more wins we would've made the tournament easily. Our strength of schedule was high.

He is young too. All he has ever know is Grant,Avery, and this 1st year of Oats. Sad

Im pretty devastated myself but at least got to experience The end of Wimp and the Elite 8 under Gottfried.

The Wimp years were wonderful. He was hell to coach against in the SEC tournament.

So we finished as 9 th seed this year. Going by that pattern we should have an outlier year next year. Woohoo. 1-5 .I am predicting 4. Just kidding.

Would be interesting to,see if we follow this sequence or fall back to 10th place again.

In the 5 games we all felt we had to win down the stretch to make it in, the two guys that failed to produce their usual points were Petty and Reese. Petty averaged 15 points and 6.6 boards for the year; Reese 9.1 and 4.8

Arkansas: this game was a bit of an outlier as Reese scored 14 with 7 boards. Petty only had 8 points but 9 boards. Kira was the one whose game suffered on points.

Tennessee: Reese and Petty each with only 8 points but Petty had 11 boards to Reese’s 3.

Texas A&M: Petty with 11 and 4, Reese 5 and 4.

Vandy: Reese with 3 and 8, Petty DNP

Missouri today: Both players with 1 and 5.

The two guys that brought it consistently in those games: Shack and Lewis. Both always in double figures, one almost always the leading scorer.

I give Petty a pass for today, he really wasn't healthy enough to be out there playing, but him at 60% is better than Forbes so he tried to play.

Herb not being healthy effected us bad, he was no threat to score with a cast on his main hand so teams could really focus their defense on Petty. No coincidence that Pettys production went way down once Herb got hurt. Teams were basically able to use their 5 players to guard 4 of our players with Herb on the floor, and we couldn't take him out because we badly needed his defense.

The good thing is it really can’t get much worse than than what I’ve experienced since I started watching I’m used to it by now. One day we’ll be good again and it’ll all be worth it. Hell, I may cry if we win an SEC regular season title in my lifetime LOL.

And I’m still always reading the thread. I just run out of breath posting about Bama basketball year after year when nothing changes.

I find it humorous that that chart gives us a greater chance of winning Thursday than Tennessee.
Our team is done. No one gives a shite anymore from Oats down to my cat.
We're going to be run out of the gym by Tennessee.

I think we all - coaches, players, and fans - are just waiting for the sweet release of death to this season at this point.
