Rojas would've likely been a big upgrade any of them in rebounding and toughness. If Oats hadn't went out and recruited anyone to solve the problem I could see blaming him but he did, the guy he recruited just got injured before the season.

Your Rojas comment is hypothetical. Oats recruited and brought in Hawkins. Why??

To be 14-12 with probably our worse inside game in all my years of keeping up is amazing in itself.
So many games giving up countless offensive rebounds.

It's easy to say we are cursed and ignore the fact that we likely have two five stars coming in next year in Quinerly and Primo, then have Rojas and Gary who will be playing, plus Ambrose. That's at least 5 talented players we are adding.

People can choose to be negative about next year and act like we will suck because "we are cursed and will never be good again, and Oats is just like the other coaches" but you look at it realistically we should be very good. I am excited for next year personally.

I hope Oats declines the NIT. Set the standard right now that we too good to be playing in that.

You look very dumb right now.

I am embarrassed by the negativity that was shown and hope you didn’t cost us a good coach.

Not sure why Avery would want to stay here long term after he was fired by the majority of the fans a few days ago.

Embarrassing.

This was his classic Avery thread

To everyone that wanted to fire Avery earlier this week

I to thought about him declining the NIT but I doubt he will using the NIT as more practice games for returning players.
I feel your frustration for continuing visits to the consolation tournament.

Alabama has the 4th youngest team in D1 basketball and is going dancing, great coaching job by Avery. As young and inexperienced as the team is there were going to be some ups and downs, but the team is peaking at the right time. The future looks bright.

I wasn't referring to him specifically, but yeesh.

I mean good for him for staying positive I guess. I do find there to be a pretty intense irony in a fanbase that goes apeshit when they hear a recording of Bear Bryant talking shite about people who make excuses also coming up with any and every excuse they can for why the new basketball coach is losing just as many games as his shitty predecessors.

Fundamental basketball says you HAVE to be able to go inside and take the easy shot if it's there. We have nobody on the current roster that we can feed in the post and expect them to put it down. That's sort of like trying to play football with Brandon Avalos at QB. If there's no threat to pass, the offense won't be very efficient.

When we've been good, we've had a big man inside that can play, whether that was under Newton, Sanderson, whomever. It's the most basic play in basketball: throw the ball down low and let your guy lay it in (or slam it) or get the foul. It's high percentage, it's simple, it's bedrock fundamental. We don't have a guy on the roster right now that could play inside in the Sun Belt very well and until we do, we're playing with our dominant hand tied behind our back and Oats knows this too.

I have been in the real world way to long to deal with excuses. I hate them. I also hate people on the clock that have their hands in their pockets

Is it really the real world to ignore that we all most made the tournament this year with a ton of injuries and that we have a ton of talent coming in next year and only have one senior?

Every year is not realistically the same. Some are saying next year will be the same but the evidence says otherwise.

You don't have any evidence either.

Common Sense says you take the group of players we have now and add a lot more good players we will likely be better.

Saying we are cursed and will never be good again makes more sense I guess right?

Do you know for sure what players are coming back? Or are you saying hypothetically if that group of players comes back?

We would've almost certainly made the tournament this year if not for Rojas, Gary, and Herb's injuries. If ya'll choose to ignore that and say we are cursed and will always suck then that's on ya'll I'm not gonna argue with you about it. It's obviously not true, but I'm not gonna argue about it.
