LSU, Georgia and Miss St all have final four appearances. I don't see how Bama is a top 3 or 4 program in the SEC. Alabama is a average middle of the pack basketball program.

Alabama is behind Kentucky, Florida and Arkansas.

Alabama is roughly even with LSU, Missouri and Tennessee.

Alabama is ahead of everybody else.

Eh I'd say Bama is behind them for now. LSU has been to four final fours and 6 Elite Eights.

We've had 8 sweet 16 appearances, but only 1 elite 8 appearance.

In terms of success in the SEC, yeah we're up there, but CBB programs are in large part measured on how well they do in the tournament and not in the regular season.

Was hoping we could keep it up until after March Madness. That way we can discuss some more of Bama Bball and the tournament.

I enjoy discussing basketball with you guys. Honestly, this is the only Bama forum that will actually discuss it and super analyze on certain topics.

Yea, I could totally accept that argument, hence the "roughly".

Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas

LSU

Alabama, Tennessee

I have no problem seeing LSU ahead of Alabama despite the fact that Alabama has a better overall SEC record and more SEC tourney titles. They've been pretty good but the others?

State's got half the overall NCAA appearances of Alabama and a whopping THREE sweet 16 appearances in their entire history. They caught magic in a bottle once and I'm happy for them but put them ahead of Alabama? Good gosh man, the came into this year with an all time conference record of 564-738 (.433). Their overall winning percentage is just 54%.

Compare that with Alabama - SEC: 757-578 (.567) Overall: 1600-984 (.619)

Georgia is even WORSE than Moo State. Their overall conference record is 521-745 (.419) and their overall winning percentage is just 52%. Like Moo State, they've been to the NCAAs half as many times as Bama and have a massive TWO sweet 16 appearances. Again, lightning in a bottle. Great for them, but historically as a program they've sucked.

It is readily apparent that you honestly have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to the historical positioning of SEC basketball programs. Here's the 2015-16 SEC Media Guide. Take a look at it and you'll quickly see that you are selling Bama very short.

I absolutely hate this attitude in the state of Alabama. Basketball is important to some folks 365 just like football is to others. Not as many folks, but there are some of us!

As long as there's good discussion, they'll keep it around. After March Madness, there's the spring signing period and us going after grad transfers. Then it's summer workouts and leaks for the new schedule so there will be plenty to discuss.

I agree - the specific team threads on this board are the only ones I even read and respond in on the intranets anymore. There are posters on BOL that are very good in regards to certain sports, but 90% of the threads end up being taken over by idiots.

Keep this thread going, great discussion spot.

Not a bad list. The only issue I'd have is with Arkansas. I wouldn't put them near the level of Kentucky and Florida. I see them more likely at the same level as LSU. Since they've been in the SEC they've been very so-so outside of Nolan's tenure.

We're talking about a 10 year success drought at Bama, but they're on about year 15. Most people wouldn't believe it, but in the post-Nolan era Bama has more NCAA tourney trips and wins than Arkansas.

Good points, and I agree.

Yep - Arkansas has been somewhere between bad and a bubble team almost every single year since what, 2000 or so? That's almost 2 decades of bleh.

We gotta keep this thread going all year longs fellas! It's a mindset.

Honestly this has been a fun basketball season, especially considering what our expectations were are the beginning of the year. The time between now and next season is when we'll see what this staff, and this team, is really made of. Can't wait for next year's opening game!

Fun season, but really hard to watch them at the end. After the LSU game, the fun stopped for me.

Once they went from being the underdogs to the favorites, they couldn't close out games. It also didn't help that once the secret was out on Retin being the only offensive creator, it became a lot harder for the team as a whole to score.

I'm hoping Coleman or AJJr find a niche as pass first point guards that get everyone involved in the offense. I've got a feeling that Ingram will be a ball dominant scoring PG, which is great, but it'll be good to have some guys offset him and get everyone involved (Riley, Hale, Hall, Austin, etc.)

I was really happy that even while we were losing and getting stifled offensively, they still tried to work the ball around. The lack of talent finally caught up with them.

I'm pumped to see Nick King finally hit the floor. By all accounts he has been our best player in practice, so I'm excited to see if he lives up to the hype.

Same here. The lineup next year will be very intriguing, especially when you throw Nick King into the mix at forward.

Already ready for next year's team. Still think they can be a tourney team with the depth and experience. Guys like Taylor, Norris, Coleman, and Hale all with at least 3+ years of experience; King and JUCO recruit Ar'Mond Davis will be a junior; Hall will be in his 2nd year, along with possibly adding Bruno.

Not even counting a talented recruit like Braxton Key.
