Let's look at shite from the bright side:

1. We weren't supposed to even be in position to make the NCAAT. To even come close is a success for a first year HC

2. Donta Hall is a man child and is only a freshman.

3. While the NIT is like beung the tallest midget, I still expect Bama to make a good run and get more experience for the younger guys. Also gives some more exposure for the team and extra home games.

4. We'll have a really solid team next year. Players will be more familiar with Avery and what he wants to implement, the team will be experienced, and we add solid players.

Sucks to miss a chance to go to the tournament, but still not the end of the world. If CAJ showed he can get this team close to the tourney, then I have no doubt he'll get us to where we want to be.

Completely agree with all of that, obviously.

Offense has become really stagnant and there seems to be a mentality to want to just let Retin do everything.

Arthur, Riley, and Hale lost their confidence in that final stretch of games, Riley and Hale especially. Hale looked lost out there last night, and outside of Arthur last night they've all seemed hesitant to shoot. We're a decent team when one of those is shooting well to complement Retin. When none of them are, we are a bad, one-dimensional team on offense.

God I wish Hale would attack the basket more instead of trying to be a pull up jumper. He has the size and the ability to attack the rim, but opts out of it and tries these fade aways that always miss horribly.

I agree. Making the NIT and having possibly a 20 win season in Avery's first year would be a huge success

I wonder how much of it might be injury & wear-and-tear related. We know Hale's been hurt all year and I read somewhere that Norris was playing with injured fingers.

I'm certain CAJ said that the practice before the Auburn game was the first time they'd been able to go full speed in a while.

It can't help but add up, and when you're dancing on a knife edge like we've been you can't afford even a little slip...

3 starters scored a combined 6 points and the 4th starter got 6. That my friends is a crappy starting line up. Hale needs to be put back in as a starter and 35 needs to be a starter.

If Kessens never sees the floor again it would not be a loss, imo.

Arky's big man was nailing that mid ranged jumper all night. Wasn't Kessens supposed to be able to do the same when he transferred?

Yea. He is the most disapppointing player on this team to me. The last drive to the rim by Retin that Kessens could have rebounded and tied the game but of course misjudged his jump, sums up his whole year.

I don't disagree, but what we don't know is how much Hale can go. The most minutes he's gotten in the last month is 27 and that was high. He's usually only getting 20. If that's all he can give, I don't see that it really matters if he gets them as a starter or off the bench.

I do agree about Donte Hall. I'd have him on the floor as much as possible.

Speaking of Alabama basketball, here's a bleacherreport story on the current life of Devonta Pollard.

I didn't realize he was at Houston now. I'm glad he got a chance to play. I know he made the choice that ended is time at Bama, but I have a lot of sympathy for him because his mother put him in a terrible position.

I don't see him as a bad kid at all. He was doing what his mom told him to do and he didn't know the reason for it. I hope everything works out for him and I'm not ashamed of him being a part of our team before.

After blowing their chance at the NCAA tourny, watch them beat Georgia on the road.

If they do that, I'll get my hopes up for an SEC tourney run and then they'll end up losing in the first round to somebody that we should beat

For us to have it 85% for most of the season is a huge accomplishment. For one, it shows that we're all in for Avery. The student section was full every single home game. Secondly, Coleman is not one of the better arenas in the league. It ranks damn near last.

Tremendous accomplishment. Hopefully we can get a new one and start building more energy around the program.

Think it'll be awhile before a new arena comes. Hopefully we can do something about the seating arrangements though, Coleman is a terrible place to watch a game. Really still need a way to get more students closer to the court, but in Coleman there's no way to do that without losing big money donor seats and we know how the administration feels about that.

Considering the attendance record was set, they are currently building more energy around the program.

I think we're way more likely to see a massive renovation to the inside of Coleman before a new arena gets built.

Think that's more likely too. For what it's worth, I don't mind the exteriors of Coleman; it's the interior design of it that bothers me so much. The band placement, the student seating and the upper seats are so awful.
