My guess would be we finish right around 500.

Maybe I've had too much kool-aid, but I think they'll be better than that.

Granted the sample set is pretty small right now, but the only teams I've seen that have looked consistently better than Alabama against decent competition are Kentucky, Florida, and South Carolina - and Bama gets all three only once.

If Bama can get healthy and that 'luck' factor could slide back towards the middle just a tad, I think 10-12 conference wins are a real possibility.

It was recently renovated. I don't think we'd get that turnout if it became a yearly event,

I don't see why it's only a 6k arena. Not big at all...and the best AL high school basketball is played in Huntsville metro, which is a nice tactic to get those Petty, Randolph, Lacey, and the upcoming talent..I'm sure the hometown crowd would like to see their guys play collegiately.. and put a game up against a decent team like Xavier, Cincinatti, Belmont, NC State etc...it will sell out every time

I just love the atmosphere in the smaller arenas.

I've been downvoted for saying this in the past, but I wish Bama would downsize if they decide to build a new arena. There are just WAAYYY too many empty seats at our home games, and it looks bad.

Also, thought I'd mention something CAJ say at NorthRiver not too long ago. He said if Bama truly wanted to be a contender and show a commitment to the basketball program and be like the other big programs(UK, Kanas), they need a new arena. Kinda surprised he said actually voiced this, but I guess he speaks his mind.

I thought it was closer to 10k capacity.

it depends on how the setup is...for shows and concerts that are not in the concert hall it's 10k

I'd definitely go every year. I don't think there would be any issue selling it out, especially assuming Bama starts having some good teams.

There's a lot of us up here with jobs, families, etc, that just can't justify driving 3+ hours to Tuscaloosa to watch a game. But we love basketball. Having a game in Huntsville once a year would continue to bring all of us out.

And, like you said, it definitely helps recruiting. This area is where a lot of the basketball talent comes from in our state.

Maybe, but we'll have to go 10-8 or 11-7 in the SEC to really clear that. There aren't a ton of gimme wins in league this year. The league isnt great, but there are a lot of bubble/NIT teams. Going to be a tough haul.

Yea, I'm all for having a game in Huntsville every year during the winter break. Great basketball area, lots of high school talent and a decent arena.

It would be an instant game changer for this program if we got a new arena. I hate Coleman Coliseum. The student and band placement is absolutely horrible.

Coleman feels like a dungeon. It's just has a dark and miserable feel to it.

Take some notes from Auburns colossal and beautiful frick up of an arena

Pros
1- Low ceilings = major noise multiplier
2- Less seats = less empty seats for shite games
3- Adding a "fire ribbon" is super damn legit

Cons
1- Don't make it look half assed. If you are spending a shite ton make it state of the art
2- Make sure the seats all can see the court
3- Don't have TV cameras face the sold out scholarship seats that go empty

In the last 10 years, we've averaged right at 10k. In CC, having 10k still means you have 5k empty seats, which looks bad on our part. The seating configuration is bad too.

I think we've discussed this 1000 times on here, and super analyzed every single detail on what's wrong with it. The sad part is, we won't get it.

And that's exactly why people say we don't care about basketball at Alabama. We have the fans, we care. But the school doesn't take it as serious as football and they need to. Give us a new arena along with us having Coach Avery and we'll be able to recruit anyone we want, especially if we start winning a lot of games in the next few years.

Bill Battle didn't even wanna fire Grant. Took our fanbase going absolutely crazy and not showing up to games anymore before we even got a new coach. I just don't think we'll get a new arena.

and if we dont have a serious turn around next year..... AG was horrible and he did not PR the program. Avery has been all over the place. Now he has to put a good product out there next year or the fan base will show up disguised as empty seats too.

Anybody else think Collins should play less? He's not a ball hog, but seems to be a bit of a ball-stopper. He never pushes the ball in transition, never finds the roll man, and always holds the ball too long. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it's a coincidence that we finally got the Fastbreak game going with Collins out.

I am sure everyone noticed how bright and cheery the court looked in Huntsville. That's how Coleman should look. Why doesn't it? Why can't we change that at least?

Merry Christmas to all the die-hard Bama basketball fans. Here's to 1000 more years of ineptitude.
