So, you were expecting a dominant team in the first two years because AJ said "buckle up"?

I don't think it has anything to do with dominating. It's all style of play.

There's already a huge difference in style of play. I think some of us have forgotten what it was like to watch a team hold the ball 8 feet behind the 3 pt line for 30 seconds, then miss a shot, and end up scoring 40 points for the whole game.

Seriously. Grant's offense would just bleed the clock and then throw up a contested prayer shot at the end. There are much more opportunities for the ball handler to take higher percentage shots. Players just need to learn how to damn shoot. You get an open shot off a high ball screen, you have to make the damn shot. That's what is aggravating.

I still remember losing to Auburn 37-49 when Grant was here. We're nowhere near that bad and we still have some of Grant's players. I also remember giving the ball to Levi Randolph to win a game and we wouldn't even have a play drawn up. It was just give the ball to Levi and let him shoot and see if he can win it. It was ridiculous. Y'all gotta be patient, don't overreact after a 5 point loss to a good basketball school. Dayton is better than most of the SEC schools so we should do good in conference play, along with getting possibly 9-10 non conference wins. I expect us to be around the 20 win mark this year and barely sneak into the tourney, which is a success for year 2. Year 3 with his first full elite recruiting class, the best class in Alabama history, is when we should start demanding more. Now if we come out next year and don't make the tourney, or we're on the bubble and barely sneak in with that talent, THEN we can go full meltdown mode, but until then, relax. We're fine. RTR! #BuckleUp

They're got to start making some mid-range jumpers. Against Dayton, there were only 3 shots made inside the paint that weren't layups or dunks. Again, I think in time, they'll start to grow as a better shooting team, but I would love to see more mid-range shots go down.

I can't believe how well Dayton shot. 9 3-pointers and shot 50% from the perimeter.

Also, I hate bringing up Ar'Mond so much, but I really hope he's not just a spot up shooter. I get he was this 3-point specialist in JUCO, but the more people we have that can take it to the basket, the better.

btw, Mizzou is beating Xavier right now 40-36. Would be huge for the conference if Mizzou can be competitive in basketball again.

At work, was it a clear foul?

Sucks they lost. Would have been great for SEC. Now it sucks for everyone else as yet another "bottom" team looks good

Game. We get to see if Clemson is for real or not this year. They play Xavier next in Quarterfinals.

These close OOC games are going to end up burning the SEC, even though they are against good teams

-Clemson over UGA 74-67
-Dayton over Bama 77-72
-Xavier over MZ 83-82

If we continue to lose these type of toss up quality OOC games, that is the difference in 1-2 NCAAT invites for the conference

Just saw where you guys play Oklahoma and UCONN . Huge games. Plus UCONN looks very beatable this year.

IMO Alabama will have to go 2-1 vs Texas, Clemson, and Oregon. Go undefeated in Las Vegas and hopefully get matched up against BYU, who could help out the RPI.

Florida has some good games against Seton Hall and @Duke.

Arkansas plays @Minnesota, Houston, and Texas.

Ole Miss has literally no one for the OOC schedule other than Baylor for the Big 12-SEC challenge.

A&M can do their part vs USC. They gotta find a way to upset Arizona though.

South Carolina has Seton Hall, Michigan, and Syracuse.

Tennessee has Wisconsin, Gonzaga, and North Carolina. Don't expect there to be any upsets there

Dude I wanna know where UNI finds these players that can shoot. They have like 4 straight 3s vs Arizona State and they are shooting them from NBA range.

Already put an L on the calendar for Oklahoma. @UConn, even in a down UConn game is never going to be fun. Since Auburn will be ~9-2, 8-3 going into that game, their fans will show up unfortunately

I would rank "winnability" for these as

1- Texas
2- Clemson

3- Oregon

I'm not sold on Texas, they have handful of talent but the top end talent is young. Young guys can't rely on the program culture/ experienced players since Shaka Smart hasn't had time to entrench is culture

Clemson all has to do with Jaron Blossomgame being that good. He can take over a game and hard to see Bama having a great answer for him. Combine that with major upgrades at guard positions with now eligible transfers and decent depth in the post

As a Zona fan, I will admit that Oregon is that fricking good. Plus it is a cross country road trip to a very hostile and I believe renovated arena

I expect and would be happy with splitting the six difficult non-conference games (Dayton, BYU/Valpo/St. Louis, UT, Clemson, Oregon)- if we can do that going in to conference play it would set up well. Xavier game aside, we get a relatively easy schedule in the SEC by getting MSU, Mizzou, and LSU twice.

Schools like UNI recruit gym rat kids who understand their game revolves around being technicians/skill development and not "out athlete-ing" the opponent. It is the Vandy Riley LaChance experience on repeat for all their players

The kids Auburn/Bama target have been able to dominate competition on natural ability their entire lives. It is hard to develop elite skills/technique when you are great with raw talent in AAU/HS

Last year we won at Clemson 51-50. This year it'll be at "home" for us. Will be played in Birmingham instead of Tuscaloosa and it was LOUD in B-Ham last year when we played Oregon, so I'm expecting it to be pretty loud again and maybe give us an advantage. Texas is definitely young and inexperienced and they struggled with some little team the other day. I say we win those 2 but lose to Oregon. Oregon did lose to Baylor but Baylor is always pretty dangerous so I think Oregon is still legit.

One of Clemson's major transfers actually went down with an injury vs UGA.

Blossomgane is a hell of a player. Only had 8 poits vs us last year, but had 3 blocks and 7 blocks. Also knew how to get to the line.
