Honestly I can't get into basketball outside of Bama until March. Michigan State, Kansas, UK, and Duke will all make the tournament, so I don't see why these games matter.

I can see your point. I've always grew up a huge CBB fan, so I'm excited to see any basketball action. Not a huge NBA fan though.

Usually just watch these type of games due to the quality of play. They're still trying to figure stuff out and see which lineups work best, but they usually provide some entertaining games.

I wanted to watch both games, but had other stuff to do. How did Kentucky's and Duke's freshman look? I'm guessing like NBA lottery picks like they do every year. Lol Who do you think is better, Kentucky or Duke? Generally Kentucky starts out a little slow cause of all the freshman, then by the end of year after they have chemistry they are kicking everyone's arses.

Malik Monk went some 7-12 from 3PT and came as billed. Kentucky just steamrolled MSU

MSU usually doesn't hit stride till later in the year. They seem to excel in the tournament, not as much the regular season

I don't believe Duke has a freshmen right now in their starting lineup. Luke Kennard and Chase Jeter are the youngest, and they're sophomores. Kentucky freshmen look NBA ready per usual. They have great length, range, can shoot inside and outside the perimeter, quick, and they rebound well.

I'd say Duke is a better overall team right now, but it's hard to tell. Way too early to predict.

I hope is that we can compete like either team soon

How good do you have to be to sign 3 ESPN top 10 recruits and not start any of them?

So jealous of these programs. I know we have football, but damnit, I'm selfish

Only nice thing about being a bubble team or middle NCAAT team is every game is important and fun.
When you are Kentucky and only 3-5 teams in the country can compete in the first half, gets boring to watch.

I have family that are Arizona fans, outside their marquee OOC matchups , they DGAF about OOC or even 50-75% of conference games

Thanks guys for all the responses! So a freshman came in and hit 7 of 12 3's? That's better than our whole team.lol Must be nice! We will finally know what that feels like next year. It's going to be weird next year, cause we're not going to know how to act.lol Atleast my days are over of throwing my remote through my tv! Thanks Grant!

I would pump the brakes a little bit, thats a lot of pressure to put on FR.
You can look at LSU, MSU or UF last year who had top flight talent and looked promising but never put it together

Only the elite coaches/programs have found regular success that way. Most had bruises along the way to figuring out how to do it

It is unknown how Avery will handle a team that young, ego of 5* 18 YOs and the learning curve

While problems may seem similar to NBA challenges, dealing with 18YOs is different than professionals with some years of maturity

Just saw on MSB that Duke was without the #1, #3, and #16 recruits in the nation.

I thought Duke just wasn't playing them when I posted earlier.

Duke is going to be U.K. From a few years back that only lost 1 game. They are just so stacked

Idk. They have to play @Syracuse, @Louisville, @Virginia, and of course the big rivalry games vs UNC. They're definitely loaded, but I doubt they get through the regular season with only one loss.

That UK team also played a very weak SEC conference that year. One ranked opponent (Arkansas) during the conference slate. Still shouldn't take anything away from that team though- what they did was crazy.

I meant along the lines of absolutely dominant all season, not run the table which is near impossible.

Duke/UK this year just seem a step ahead of even the elite field

This thread has been ridiculous for the most part.

I'm afraid that once we start winning a bunch, that the thread will be even worse. Y'all do realize that even top 2 seeds can have as many as 6 or 7 losses, right? Sometimes your team loses against other good teams, even when you are Michigan State or Duke.

I choose to see the positives.

1. Corban Collins is a natural leader that is going to help us secure several wins this year.

2. Dazon isn't turning the ball over near as much as he was last year when he played.

3. Braxton Key never let the moment get too big. He can rebound and handle and can play great defense on almost every position.

4. Jimmie Taylor has improved. Would have scored more if they had not doubled him most of the game. My expectation is that he is an 8 point 7 rebound guy as the season progresses.

5. Riley has been more aggressive on offense. I don't see how anyone could be down on him. He is a winner and does everything a coach could want.

We out rebounded them and had less turnovers, our two worst areas last year.

Just so negative. It was one game against a very good opponent. I don't know how people can be fans and enjoy basketball while being so negative.

I think most of the negativity is coming from people that really have never watched much basketball. They have an Alabama football mindset.
