The SEC averages 41.2 free throws shot per game. Only the SWAC shoots more among all 32 conferences.
If you assume younger teams are more prone to fouling, this shouldn't be a huge surprise.
50% of the league is ranked around >= ~#300/#351 in KenPom's experience metric

That's true, but there have been a ton of games I've watched with ridiculous calls, and they mostly favor the home team. I think it's a mixture of both

Alabama-Kentucky is officially SOLD OUT! Crowd needs to be loud and help this team get a win. Gonna need all the help we can get!
I'm afraid its more likely to be louder when the blue team scores than when the crimson team does.

Kentucky will definitely have a lot of fans, but it actually looked like most of the seats were filled in the last sell out so hopefully our crowd will show up and be loud

I wish we could let a couple more Kentucky fans have access to our board. Then we could all just have the game thread here without having others screw it all up. They have some good rational fans.

Don't mean to be a naysayer but Calipari was pissed after the LSU game. He dropped the hammer on them in practice to get their attention and refocus them. They are going to come into Coleman pissed off and ready to play. They are liable to run us out of the gym tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong, but this isn't when you want to catch Big Blue.

See, I'm the exact opposite. I don't want fans of any other schools in on the board (but nobody asked me). I really don't like folks for other teams posting in an in game thread. I don't need to hear what an Auburn fan thinks my team needs to get better.

I agree. I hate the refs, but hard to compare if our refs are that much worse than another conference though considering that.

Talked to someone in tickets, turns out a decent volume of season tickets are purchased by non Alabama fans for basketball (eg. opposing fans and/or brokers)
They typically do it for a couple reasons
1- Specific games : UK fans/brokers
2- SECT ticket priority
Auburn has around 50 season tickets purchased by UK fans yearly for the sole reason of getting priority to buy SECT tickets from a fanbase that likely won't sell out

It's amazing how many people on the rant hate Alabama basketball. It's just left over from football arse hurt, but after every game there is some thread trolling our basketball team.

Well I know lately we haven't done much, especially the last 10 years, but there's a little bit to hate:
We're basically a top 3 SEC basketball school historically and have had some great players come out of here. We have a former NBA champion as our coach. We also have a top 5 overall recruiting class coming in, only other SEC team that can say that is Kentucky.
But I agree that most of the hate is from football. They don't want us to become successful in both lol

Avery Johnson press conference quotes:
quote:
Johnson: This game should be fun. We should be running and getting our fans into the game and putting all our chips in.
quote:
Avery Johnson on the team's mindset for tomorrow: You have to be confident. You always have to be ready to attack.

.@CoachAvery6 closes his presser saying tomorrow should be fun. Bama tips off against Kentucky tomorrow at noon on CBS. @BamaHoopsHype
quote:
Braxton Key said Ar'Mond Davis and Corban Collins led a player-only meeting the night before SC game. Helped morale and team chemistry.
quote:
.@CoachAvery6 says he didn't know about the meeting, which is a good thing. He says it means the team has leadership.

I'm sure there's some sacred scrolls around here somewhere with our NCAA tourney and sec Championship history on it that they can read

Bama is easily in the upper tier historically but I'd pump the breaks on top 3

Sounds like we're gonna play at a faster tempo. I thought we played a faster in the first half vs South Carolina. Also, I'm surprised that Davis is considered a team leader.

When I said that I was basically going off of SEC championships
Edit: Top 4 or 5 like you said is probably what I should've said, but i could make an argument for us to be #3. Either way, were top 5 so it doesn't make a difference either way.

quote:I am too. Usually a player will act like he's a leader but won't back it up. Armond helped hold a team meeting and then went out the next day and had a great game backing up the talk.
I'm surprised that Davis is considered a team leader.

On a good note, The softball team had a nice day today. Not sure where to brag about it

Kinda OT, but since you brought up softball, Women's golf is about to start the second half of their schedule. Cheyenne Knight finished 5th in the Golfstat rankings in the first half of the season and leads the team in scoring. We're ranked 3rd in the nation.
Men's golf won't start till the 19th. Going to kind of have a set back year with Robby Shelton going pro. Unless Dru Love improves on his stroke average, we won't win many tournaments. But Jay Seawall is a great coach and I'm sure we'll be fine
