Would you say that Alabama is some great defensive team? I've never watched this team and though they were anything better than maybe above avg defensively
According to stats though, y'all are arguably one of the best in the country. What am I missing?

We're above average. We do have a good defense but us only allowing like 62 PPG is a little misleading. We play a slower pace, which leads to less points for the other team.
But overall, I'm satisfied with the defense. They're good enough

That's the weird thing, even adjusting for pace y'all are a top 20-25 efficiency defense.
I'm not saying you are bad, but in the 3-4 games I've watched of y'all, I wouldn't expect you to be maybe 75-150 not top 25

The problem is they've got no basketball I.Q., can't shoot a lick (free throws incl.), and don't have the heart to win the game in the 2nd half when the chips are down.....other than that, they're ok.

I meant more along the lines of being a top 50 eFG% defense and top 25 2FG%
That was the shocking thing. I could see rebounding , slower style of play and turnover % making some sense
I just didn't see anything that would cause the lower FG% when I watched though

First there aren't many put backs for points. Next they block a ton of shots in the paint, and finally their big guards protect the 3-point line pretty well and make folks shoot over them.

Perimeter defense. Alabama is 250th in the nation in 3-point defense, giving up 36.1% from beyond the arc and close to 7 3s a game.
