LOL Murph is the college softball equivalent of Bobby Cox!

Anyone else feel like the longer Murph stays in Tuscaloosa, the more lackadaisical and nonchalant he gets? He just wants to hang around with his gals and have some fun, being the crazy uncle. He's the women's softball equivalent to Bobby Cox and Morris Buttermaker (Walter Mathau in Bad News Bears) if they had a love child. He thinks that in a week or two he can just flip a switch and have this team WCWS ready. I'm not convinced we make it out of the regionals or supers this year. This team is so up and down and scrapping for every W, I can see another bad series at the wrong time ending their season. I hope I'm wrong about the outcome, but Murphy's schtick and his strategy (is there one?) are really getting old.

Incredibly sad situation

James Madison University cancels softball season after star player Lauren Bernett's death

"We will use this time to continue healing and to honor Lauren’s memory," Dukes coach Loren LaPorte said.
quote:

As a freshman last year, Bernett started 43 games as the Dukes went 41-4 and advanced to the Women’s College World Series for the first time in school history.

In JMU's last game, a week ago Sunday, Bernett had a banner game, going 4-for-4 with a homer and two doubles in an 11-4 win at Drexel. She was named the Colonial Athletic Association's player of the week.

Bernett's passing marked the third Division I female athlete to die by suicide within a span of two months.

Wisconsin runner Sarah Shulze died on April 13 and Stanford soccer goalkeeper Katie Meyer passed away on March 1.

Last home series - need all 3 of these to stay in play for hosting super regionals (assuming we get past regionals). Note the Saturday game has been moved up 30 mins.

Alabama softball’s Kaylee Tow (@kaytow12) will be honored ahead of Saturday’s game against Missouri at 12:30 p.m. for ‘Senior Day’

Tow, a three time all-American, has 256 career starts for @AlabamaSB. It’ll certainly be loud in Rhoads Stadium for #12.

Edit:
Well, the Bama email says Kaylee will be recognized on Sunday:

Softball Hosts Missouri in Their Final Regular Season Home Series
Come out to Rhoads to watch softball take on the Missouri Tigers in their last home series of the regular season. Wear pink on Saturday for the Crimson Tide’s annual Power of Pink game and arrive early on Sunday to help celebrate Kaylee Tow’s Senior Day!

I’m not a Murphy fan at all, but I tried like hell to give him the benefit of doubt, because the former players seem to love him. I don’t know who we could hire that would be better, but ole Murphy seems to be content on the same ole shite every year. Inexcusable this season. He has tons of talent
