Composite five-star Marvel Allen talks upcoming Georgia visit, updates recruitment

Calvary Christian Academy point guard Marvel Allen is set to take a visit to Georgia this weekend. As of now the 6-foot-4 composite five-star has no other visit plans set and is still open in his recruitment.

Allen broke down some schools involved with 247Sports.

Georgia: “The head coach and all the assistants have been really consistent in reaching out and building that relationship with me. Their message is that they enjoy my game and how I would fit into their system. I appreciate the relationship they built with me so I'm going to visit and we're going to talk on how I’ll fit in the system and all that.”

Alabama: “Coach Oats and Bryan hit me up consistently. We talk back and forth. They're trying to do the same thing as Georgia with building a relationship. I like how they let their guards rock out from what I've seen in previous years from Collin Sexton and John Petty. I want to go on campus to see how it is because they pretty much told me everything about the school.”

Penn State: “That relationship is going really well. Coach Aki hits me up a lot, he used to be my assistant coach before he got the job at Penn State. Once he got the job he made sure to hit me up and let me know things I can do better, give constructive criticism and what he likes for me.”

Going into his junior season, Allen has big plans to showcase his talent and continue to play at a high level.

“This year I'm looking to show people that I'm that guy,” he said. “I'm one of the best players in the nation. Just coming out every game and showing them I'm that best player and showing them the team we are and that we can make it to Geico.”

Jerry Meyer just CB'd Brandon Miller to Alabama and Jaden Bradley to Arizona.

UK can pretty much lock up the #1 class for 2022 on Monday if Dereck Lively commits there.

As long as we get 2 of Miller, Walker, Smith, Bradley I’ll be ecstatic. I feel best about Miller and Smith right now. Add in a couple of top 150 guys and/or transfers and we’ll be loaded.

We’re going to need a PG or two for next year’s team because I don’t see JD coming back no matter what and I’d expect JQ to be gone as well. Maybe a stud PG will want to transfer in after the season?

That's what'll happen if Bradley goes to Arizona. There were some very good PGs in the portal. I expect you'll see other great PGs next year, that want to win and get more exposure.

But looking at the list of guys we're after, we better get used to some heartbreak. Bball recruiting is fierce and dirty. When swinging for the fences, you will strike out more. But I love seeing Oats going after elite talent. Because now, like football, we're becoming a prized offer to receive. We seem to be in almost everyone's top 5. So expect more misses. But we're also pulling in elite talent on a consistent level like I've never seen at Bama.

JJ Starling would've been an excellent plan b for Jaden Bradley.

Chandler Jackson is still on the board, if we miss on Bradley I’d expect us to turn up the heat.

But AZ (although they have good history) with an unproven first year head coach over a program where the point guard is given the keys to an NBA style offense and we’re putting out draft picks left and right? Interesting. Not saying it’s over but things are looking bleak

Yeah, Jackson looks like a solid player and we seem to be in a decent shape for him. I like Starling a good bit better though personally after seeing his growth in the 2-3 years we recruited him.

Either way, hopefully Hodgson and Oats can get Jaden Bradley back on our bandwagon before this thing is over.

I can’t remember who all was on Starling’s top 5 but we weren’t on it.
