It appears we may have football next month after all.

I think BIG 10 tried to scare other conferences into making the same decisions and it backfired on them.

Well, it would have been nice if the power 5 conferences could have maintained a minimal amount of collective thought on their football plans going forward. But you almost have to remind yourself that confusion and lack of unity are just what we are seeing in every other aspect of our society in this country with the pandemic.

Some are calling this latest failure of the B1G another example of leadership that keeps failing to lead. Possibly, but the fear of the unknown with this virus is alive and well in people's minds, and "waiting it out" still feels like the smartest way to go. Perhaps the recent death of a European basketball player who had just gotten over a case of COVID and suddenly died from a heart attack working out is all it takes for cooler heads to say, it just isn't worth the risk involved in a football season.

It's just painfully obvious to me that the biggest stick in COVID's closet is still the fear of the unknown.

No, it's the fear of lawsuits.

We are a ludicrously risk averse society, and this virus just kicked that into overdrive.

The fear of the unknown to an administrator is all about liabilities. Perceived and otherwise.

The Soviet Union claims they have one. China will say they have one soon. Then one from Europe near the end of the year and then the one from the US soon after. Followed by another soon after.

The RoundTable has a cardiologist on to talk about Myocarditis and after listening to him we Are 100% playing. The B1G and Pac12 overreacted

He obviously thinks testing for Myocardosis after a positive Covid 19 would be absurd. He said it doesnt make a lot of sense to him to shut down the football season. Said he is seen 1 case this year, which is about normal for a year. Said its very rare and its treatable. He said there has never been a study on long term side affects because its so rare, and almost always the patient recovers quickly without any side affects. You dont practice medicine based on this is possible, that is possible.

He said it was a rare disease and even if you get it the chance of it being severe is rare. And it is very treatable.

I like Sabans answer best though. If you are worried about Covid19, why dont you shut down school? They are not going to get it playing football. They are going to get it on the campus.

Myocarditis is rare, but it's also linked to virtually any type of viral infection out there and some bacterial ones as well. To act like it's unique to 'Rona is dishonest and misleading. I think there's some concern that COVID has a higher incidence of it, which actually wouldn't be surprising with this disease, but I don't think the statistics bear that out yet.
