I can understand your sentiment. Tonight showed just what kind of a ticking time-bomb this team was. There were glaring holes along the front seven of the defense which were never fully masked over as the season came along. The middle of the defensive line is and continues to be the Achilles heel of the defense. Recruiting misses are beginning to show because Ivory and Lake just haven't developed into sufficient anchors. Little to zero depth behind them. Stinson is a veteran who has put on weight to play end. Pagan has played better. Allen and Robinson are two bright spots for the future. Tomlinson could be a solid contributor post-recovery, but will it ever be anything more than from the outside as a pass rusher?
This says nothing of the cornerback depth. GOOD GOD. For a unit that is supposedly coached by the head coach himself, it is sorely lacking in nearly ever aspect.
I made the comment in the recruiting thread the other day concerning recruiting misses over the past couple of years, and I stand by my statements. Outstanding play by a few individuals this season has diverted the casual fan's attention anyway from the structural cracks in the defense. Here's to hoping Jackson and M. Smith wake up to provide competition at the cornerback spot in the spring.
I cringe at the thought of who will step in at the linebacker spot next year to hold DePriest's hand.

I agree with LD. We had scares all season just waiting for when this may happen. I think most UA fans are more frustrated with the potential of this team and it never came out. Not really the loss. It is what it is and whatever happens, happens.
What we know is the SEC will more than likely not be playing for the BCS. AU, USC, or Mizzou, one of those 3 will be in the Sugar Bowl. UA should get a BCS at large and I would think against Clemson, since the Orange gets to pick when FSU plays for the title.
We all want UA to win every year.

Why do I feel like we won't be in contention anytime soon? We have Blake Sims next year or maybe Del Rio. This almost feels like the end of the end in the Bama streak. We will still be good, but I don't see us making a title run until at least 2015 or 2016.

We didn't piss it away in the final game either.
This was the iron bowl with everything to play for. I'm tired of seeing the attempted rationalization. No excuse to lose to that team. None.
