The Southeastern Conference is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Social & Digital Media, which will direct social media communications and assist in management of the SEC’s official website, SECsports.com
Responsibilities to be successfully fulfilled by the Director of Social & Digital Media include:

•Edit and publish content produced by the SEC Office to SEC social media channels and SECsports.com and work with internal marketing and creative services departments to build brand cohesion and consistency across SEC’s digital platforms

•Serve as liaison between the SEC and its 14 institutions, championship host cities, contracted content providers and the SEC Network to execute campaigns, promote events and share content

•Organize and maintain a content calendar to coordinate all press releases and social postings

•Write excellent, attention-grabbing copy for social media that intrigues and entertains users while creating and maintaining a consistent voice on all SEC social platforms

•Coordinate and execute sport-specific information created by SEC sport communications contacts to generate positive publicity for the SEC via its various digital platforms

•Build and maintain historical archive information for website, including regular updates to championship pages on SECsports.com and other relevant content that must be updated on an annual basis

•Develop and execute the SEC’s social media strategy, utilizing multiple platforms to drive fan engagement, including specialized strategies for championship events, media days, and other special events such as signing days, awards presentations, professional draft days

•Assist in production and development of graphics produced by creative services department to use on social media platforms and ensure branding elements are included and consistent

•Travel to and assist with management of selected SEC Championship and Media Days events and other events as appropriate and assigned

•Assist in creating and maintaining a social and digital media budget

•Stay up to date on industry trends and emerging platforms, and monitor current state of SEC social and digital media performance, including the identification of appropriate metrics that are beneficial to the SEC

•Maintain primary communications responsibilities in a sport to be assigned, including the coordination of statistics from member institutions and the tabulation and distribution of periodic awards and all-league team selections; assistance with management of Championship event

•Other duties as assigned by the Associate Commissioner for Communications

Candidates are expected to have successful experience in digital communications including a proficient understanding of relevant social media platforms; basic understanding of HTML and related web authoring tools and software; and an understanding and appreciation of search engine optimization (SEO). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Premiere) preferred. The successful candidate will have superior organizational skills, basic journalism experience and news judgment, proficient computer skills, the willingness to work in an environment with multiple priorities and meet deadlines, have both strong written and verbal communication abilities, and must be willing to travel and work evenings, weekends and non-traditional hours.
