In the first podium event of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, Alabama track and field pentathletes Katelyn Adel and Miracle Ailes captured silver and bronze, respectively, tallying 14 total points toward the women's team standings. Adel's 4,312-point total set the school record and became Switzerland's national season-leading mark, while Ailes' total of 4,295 points was the second-most in UA history.
On the track, Dismus Lokira (second, 13:36.33) and Caren Kiplagat (third, 15:12.56) captured silver and bronze, respectively, in the men's and women's 5,000-meter race. Additionally, Kiplagat's time was the second-fastest run in UA history.
The Tide's distance medley relay contingent of Milicent Wafula, Macauley Flanagan, Gabriella Hernandez and Cynthia Jemutai broke the Alabama school record, clocking 10:58.96 for a fourth-place finish.
UA men's multi-athletes John Landers and Patrick Daves concluded the first day of the heptathlon, sitting in fifth and seventh place, respectively. The duo will finish the remaining events Thursday, competing in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter.
At the end of the first day, the UA women lead the conference with 33 points, while the UA men sit in third with 15 points.

Alabama track and field's electric duo of Samuel Ogazi (men's 400m) and Doris Lemngole (women's 3,000m) struck gold on the final day of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships.
Ogazi's 44.72 run set the R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility record on his way to the SEC title. Additionally, the 2025 All-American and Paris Olympian broke a 15-year-old school record (44.80), originally held by program great Kirani James.
Lemngole, meanwhile, glided to a 8:45.90 that also set a new facility record. Her first-place finish marked the first time a Crimson Tide student-athlete won the SEC women's 3,000m indoor title in back-to-back seasons.
At the end of the competition, the UA women finished sixth with 58 points, while the UA men finished seventh with 42.4 points.
