The playoffs are about ratings. Ratings sell ads. Nostalgia not "deserve" sells ads. Why give into the idiots that are crying about SMU deserving a spot? They don't even watch the games? BAMA vs ND would be the most watched playoff game in the 1st round. Everyone knows it. I doubt TV allows that game to be sacrificed on the alter of "SMU deserves" to be in the playoff. It's always been about money. It'll always be about money.
BAMA = In
BAMA = In

Out. Bama passed the SOS. Failed the consistency test. I don't want to get curb stomped at Happy Valley.

But let's talk about deserve for a second.
The TV companies pay billions of dollars to put these games on TV week in and week out. They're already stuck with Indiana whose going to draw a few thousand fans to the TV? Nothing they can do about that except put them on at 11 a.m. and hope for the best.
No way they should also get stuck with ratings killer SMU because they lost a close championship game to a weak champion. They bring less eyeballs perhaps than Indiana. Do the TV people deserve to have a throw away game featuring SMU when a ratings juggernaut is sitting at home? Waiting to bring 7 million eyeballs to prime time TV on a Saturday night? Touchdown Jesus. Bear Bryant. Saban. The Gipper. The 4 horsemen. It's a fricking ratings wet dream. Night game. Snow flurries. The enigma of Milroe. The glint of real gold on those helmets. 26 combined national championships.
This shouldn't even be a debate.
