Absolutely.

I feel pretty confident I've encountered this virus at some point in the last 6 months.

- Was in South Korea the first 2 weeks of November.
- Flew through Seattle twice at the end of November.
- Flew in and out of Atlanta in January.
- Wife gets sick in February. Negative flu and strep tests.
- Lady in my office dies in late February from symptoms just like the virus, but before testing began.
- First confirmed case in the state poops in the same toilet I do at work.

I’m pretty sure I had it too at the end of January

Still fully believe it was circulating here well before March. Way too many anecdotal cases of flu-like symptoms that tested negative for the flu, even back around the holidays.

I had every symptom but shortness of breath and it lasted about 2 weeks and I had a real dry cough that would get better and then be even worse the next day.

We think one of my son's (mid 40s, in Huntsville) probably had it in Feb. He tested negative for the flu. He was in the hospital and given oxygen (not a ventilator) for a few days.

Simian, in a county of 175,000 residents, the Bay County Health Dept. reports 624 tests as of this morning, April 14, 2020. Only 38 tested positive, with 5 hospitalizations and 2 deaths.

Interesting situation going on in Raleigh, NC, right now:

We are aware of the #ReopenNC protest that is occurring in Downtown Raleigh on Wilmington and Jones Street and are monitoring the situation.

The protestors are in violation of the Governor’s Executive Order and have been asked to leave.

Replying to @raleighpolice
What part of the governor’s order was violated here?

Protesting is a non-essential activity.

Were they tested for the seasonal flu? It's not like that just disappeared.

Seems a bit screwy to attribute certain cause of death to something you aren't certain of, no?

Some of them were actually tested for the coronavirus with negative results. The new norm is to count you as a coronavirus death if you had the common symptoms, or in some cases if you died from another illness but had been exposed to coronavirus and not been tested.

It seems to me that most of the MDs in NYC hospitals treating severe respiratory distress have probably experienced enough COVID19 cases and resulting patient deaths to be able to tell fairly well if one of their patients who died was having worsening symptoms that were very much like others who had tested positive.

I hate to say it, but some people are guilty of padding the statistics. For what purpose, I am unsure unless they anticipate aid in some form or another based on numbers. But nonetheless, COVID-19 has become the catchall for any death related to respiratory illness this year.

CARES ACT
Sec. 4409. Medicare Add-on for Inpatient Hospital COVID-19 Patients This section would increase the payment that would otherwise be made to a hospital for treating a patient admitted with COVID-19 by 15 percent. It would build on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) decision to expedite use of a COVID-19 diagnosis to enable better surveillance as well as trigger appropriate payment for these complex patients. This add-on payment would be available through the duration of the COVID-19 emergency period.

No offense, but I had a friend die who was found in his truck.

While his autopsy results were pending his primary care physician stated he must have died from congestive heart failure.

Results come back and he OD'd.

Physicians can theorize all they want. In this case, it appears they may profit from it. I say you only attribute death to the Coronavirus when you have proof.
