That's the spirit.....you might wish to consider that there is a decline in talent on both sides of the football at the U of A.

Even if this were the case, good coaching can make decent talent great.

My concern is more who is coaching than what kids we're getting (I am not undervaluing the importance of recruiting, that is paramount).

Yep. Especially the defense, Bama missed pretty badly in recruiting at DL from 16-18 and at ILB in 17-18. Starting to show now.

Good God at the whining and crying in this thread over a 24 point conference road win where we left 8 points on the board (chip shot FG, missed XP, 3 instead of 7 when Tennison was in bounds).

I doubt our OL has taken 10 reps in the last 2 years where they just put their hands in the dirt, fire out and dent someone’s face mask.

We ran a QB sneak last week where Tua gained 9 yards. The backup OL today surged Mac Jones into the endzone on a QB sneak. We clearly can just surge when we need to. It's the scheme.

We have so many RPO options that we can't get more than 3-yards downfield, so that's why you see so much pulling, position blocking, and guys passing off defenders to one another before they get to the 2nd level.

It's all designed to give #13 time to decide if he likes a passing option better than the called run. The OL has to delay for half-a-second.

And we would be crazy NOT to do that, given that we have 5 NFL first rounders at QB and WR.

Good God, the posters that call out other posters because they're not shooting rainbows out their arse and are concerned with the defense.

quote:

“We don’t have enough players to get through the season if we play 86 plays of defense every week,” Saban said. “But the defense has to get off the field.

We had opportunities to get off the field on third down. There were way too many penalties in the game. We stopped ourselves with penalties, and we helped them with penalties on defense by jumping offsides on 3rd and 10, and then on 3rd and 5, they scored a touchdown. Third and 10 is a lot different to play defense than 3rd and 5.

“So, there’s a lot of fixing to do, there’s a lot of things that we can improve. I like the chemistry of our team, I like the character of our guys. I just hope we can stay healthy enough to persevere.”

Lol at the meltdowns about our 24 point road win against the team that won at Georgia last week and is taking it to Florida now.

Is anyone willing to eat the crow about the team with 1 Top Ten scalp already and 15 minutes away from another one?
