Seems like a lot of the talking heads are expecting Michigan to shut down Bama's run and not let Milroe beat them with his legs or passing. They throw up Michigan's impressive defensive stats, even if it's against some pretty bad offenses. It sounds exactly like the hype they gave Notre Dame in the championship vs Bama. They were gonna shut us down too. Hope this game plays out the same way for us again.Roll Tide !!

I really don’t recall ND having a lot of hype going into that game. I don’t think everyone thought it was going to be the blowout it was but most thought Bama would probably win. I could be misremembering though

I agree, but I also think we as fans have an overinflated view of Bama defense. We can't shut people down, but hopefully we can slow them down and force field goals. The old days of shutting people down completely is gone. The offenses have more advantages now. ROLL TIDE

Michigan played three teams with winning records this year. Iowa, Penn State and Ohio State. Iowa has the worst offense in the FBS. OSU and PSU are not their usual dominant selves on offense this year. Example: Ohio State was leading Penn State 10-6 in the fourth quarter. Neither team was good on offense.

Here are the Top 5 ranked F+ defenses in terms of defensive efficiency since they started the F+ ratings back in 2007:
It's :
1. 2011 Bama - 2.78
2. 2021 UGA - 2.66
3. 2011 LSU - 2.53
4. 2016 Bama - 2.51
5. 2023 Michigan - 2.46
I know Michigan has played some truly awful offenses, but I tend to agree with this list in terms of defensive ability. Michigan looks like a veteran unit that is tough to crack.
Like Bama did with against 2021 UGA's 'impenetrable' defense, I think it will be about chunk plays against them, and Milroe converting 3rd downs.
