Brown had actually applied and was accepted at TSU a month before the Georgia game

Maybe a stupid question but how can a player apply and be accepted at one university yet still play football at another university?

He was a top 150 player, sucks but we have plenty of LB's

This year showed that you can never have too much depth.

Kid had applied to TSU before the championship game.

Why wouldn't he be able to play at Alabama if he's still enrolled as a student? You do understand the difference between enrolling as opposed to merely applying and being accepted, right?

Applying and getting accepted can take months depending on the school. If a player is thinking of transferring, it may be dependent on them actually getting in somewhere.

I'm sure the NCAA allows players to start the ball rolling on applying in advance. It's only when they actually enroll in the other school the eligibility changes over.

Alabama player who went ballistic on sideline in national championship enrolled at Tennessee State
quote:

Alabama linebacker Mekhi Brown, the player who drew attention to himself during the national championship game when he attempted to attack a Crimson Tide assistant coach, has transferred to Tennessee State, according to a university source.

Brown, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound sophomore, had actually applied at TSU and been admitted during the fall, more than a month before the national championship game.

As a result of the incident in the national championship game against Georgia, Brown will have certain stipulations he must meet before being allowed to join the football team at TSU.

If he meets those stipulations Brown will be allowed to participate in spring practice with the Tigers and be eligible to play this fall with two years of eligibility remaining.

I'm not sure why this takes away from Boz knowing about it. He still knew more about this situation than the rest of us, regardless of when he applied.
