Let’s talk about our strength & conditioning coach.

Mr. David “give me the tightest shirt you have” Ballou. What does this guy do except try to get guys to set records with weight lifting and 40-yard dash times?
I remember when the S&C program was the foundation for the toughness, discipline and physicality the team needed to have. Now, we are mediocre at the line of scrimmage. We get pushed around and dominated. In losses like we saw yesterday, we are typically undisciplined. I firmly believe this is an area that has contributed greatly to Alabama’s issues now.
When you see him on the sidelines during games, he’s just standing there. He’s not getting anyone fired up. He’s not pushing the players to be better. He’s just standing there.
He needs to go. It’s time for a change and some new energy in our strength and conditioning program.

I said last year, when we had the worst running game in the country and the worst in over 100 years of Alabama football, that everyone who touches the running game should be fired. That certainly includes S&C.

I have said this since Saban hired him and the other guy. They are more into the science of strength and conditioning. Which is good but the mental aspect is just as if not more important. This is what we have been lacking. We need someone who instills mental toughness and grit and holds players and coaches accountable. We miss Scott Cochran. We need to find the next one that has that drill sergeant mentality that leads, inspires, motivates and hold everyone accountable and never quits

I tell you what, watching the Saban documentary has me missing our glory days. Man what a program it was under him.

Me too and yes it was. The heart of any tough team is their strength and conditioning. Look at ours then and look at it now.

You could argue that he's the most important assistant.
Go back and watch that 60 minutes episode that featured Cochran. During parts of the offseason, he's the only coach who can have contact.
If S&C does a shitty job...as ours has...it doesn't matter what coordinators you hire.

I’ve been talking about it since at least 2023. He plays a huge role in the makeup of the team. That’s who they spend the summer with when they’re supposed to be building toughness.
Look at how critical Cochran was to Saban’s dynasty.
