Let me ask you this question. What would have changed from this year to last? Jalen is going to make enough plays vs lesser teams to keep Saban happy and to keep the team winning. If it wasn't for last night he should've left IMO.

Jmo:

Saban has talked about the need to get a productive passing game going that exploits our talented receivers.

He's been very patient in trying to develop Jalen to that point. But he's also been working toward Tua's development this season.

I think it had become clear to him that Jalen was not progressing, was still an inadequate passer against good teams and that Tua's development had surpassed Jalen's.

I think Saban had already become convinced that Tua should take over as the starter this spring.

Saban made sure Tua was prepped to take over vs Clemson or Georgia if needed.

We got by Clemson without having to make a risky switch, but had to do it vs UGA.

What happenned last night worked out for the best. Saban won't say so to the media just yet, but it's clearly Tua's team now.

There's no going back to Jalen as our #1 QB. There's absolutely no justification for it. Tua is clearly much better. He proved it without a doubt last night under the toughest of circumstances.

Saban wants to sign another QB in this class. It's important in case Jalen looks to transfer, but also to enable a possible position change for Jalen.

Bottom line, Saban's managing our QB situation pretty well, all things considered.

Just think if we had the same type of game we had vs Clemson and he didn't get in. How can you sit Jalrn if he wins a National Championship no matter how bad he looked.

Imo, even if we'd won last night without playing Tua and with Jalen performing poorly, Saban would not give up his best QB via transfer, as well as his younger brother. Saban would've made the switch this spring.

If you look at Tua’s interviews from Hawaii, he considered his family economically distressed. The kid is all business about getting to the league and helping his family ... and after his junior year. That’s one reason he stated flatly he would not red shirt.

He has a lot of confidence and he was literally counting on beating Jalen out so that he could get on with his development and get ready to go out in the draft for personal reasons.

I think it’s best that Jalen either change positions or transfer. Their both good kids, but I don’t see any plan to split time working and I don’t think it’s justified. Tua, for all his easy going demeanor, is on a schedule and he means to keep it.

We need to give him all the reps and roll with him form here in out. Of course he has to get the job done, but the talent gap between these to is so wide that any serious talk of a competition is just silly.

Kiffin said the same thing about Derek Henry transferring before the Oklahoma Sugar Bowl. He had said if it wasn't for him telling Saban to use Henry more in the Sugar Bowl and Saban following through,Henry would have transferred.

Henry actually did an interview after during the Heisman season and explained how close he was to leaving the program. I think it was his mom that told him to finish what he started. I will try to find the article.

Derrick Henry thought about transferring

FWIW, Tua apparently was considering UCLA.

I don't know how much I believe that claim because he'd be sitting a year anyway, plus he conceivably would've beat out Jalen this spring regardless.
