Thanks for your service Boz, and the rest of you guys that served as well. I certainly have reservations about the politicians that lead our country and question the ethics and morals behind some of their decisions to use our military, but have the utmost respect for those that serve/served. You guys lay it on the line for everyone in the country. And even on bad days, the U.S. is still better than anywhere else.

I always look back to immediately after 9/11 when this country was probably as united as ever and wonder if we'll ever get that kind of unity again.

I remember the first baseball and football games after the attacks and how people black and white were in the stands chanting "U-S-A"

Everybody is worried about what's going to happen with the politicians. I'm more worried about US. Forget the campaigns...what is OUR platform? Are we going to respect each other and understand each others concerns as Americans?

I have a deeply conservative friend. We don't agree on everything, but what we disagree on, we respect and understand why each other feels that way. It's really not hard when you understand that "he's an American too."

Unfortunately, the only way this is going to happen is if we suffer another surprise attack on our country as a whole.

9/11, Pearl Harbor, etc.

What I wanted to say, and in fact did say, more than once is that Robert Horry, or LeBron James, or Nick Saban, or the Alabama players can speak about their own fears and anxieties about police brutality and social injustice in this country.

The concern is those for many is that when a high profile name comes out and speaks the media runs with it as if they speak for everyone because they are of the same demographic no matter what the issue is. The media and people expect them to come out in support but they should not be a true representation of all and that is what the media is doing.

Everyone has their own experiences and no one can truly understand what someone lives through daily.

I’m not even sure that will be enough. There would still be politicalization and division about whatever the attack so.

I dunno. Part of me feels like the majority of the country is not as extremely against each other as we are led to believe. Conspiratorial skepticism doesn't help though.

Absolutely right. And then politicians running for president and other things want to squeeze the narrative down tight to where the entire complicated mess can be summed up in a catchphrase. Specifically telling the world this group stands on the right or left of the political spectrum somehow explains it all.

As if the policeman kneeling on the neck of George Floyd couldn't have been a democrat as well as the guy he killed. Not likely CNN cares much for the narrative that it was a democrat on democrat hate crime. Yet eventually CNN and Fox News will frame all protestors and all cops with these political labels. Mindnumbing stupidity of people.

Like most of these incidents, the situation isn't completely black and white.

There is the problem but it becomes that simple for some when trying to fit into a narrative. I saw one article(do not know the specific number) but it claimed in regards to death to people of color by police that more were done by police of color, but yet we do not hear anyone discuss that.

Again do not know the validity of the article but have seen, especially major urban areas, where they usually recruit and assign based no specific demographics to the demographic community to help build relationships and develop trust, which makes sense.

So a thug with a brick is a trend. Stop the press, it's all so suddenly clear now.

People are sheep. PT Barnum supposedly said, "there's a sucker born every minute." He was being kind.

Yet people want cops to treat these folks with kid gloves. This happened over the weekend in Daytona Beach. Officer was shot in the chest but is expected to recover.

You can't be serious?

Although I agree with 70% of your post..you're obviously one of those people who think way too highly of themselves. And looking for internet clout. Sad.

Who are "these" folks? Would that be every single black person on the face of the planet? Your emotional predisposition for bias is clearly outrunning any morsel of logic with people or their human nature. Why don't you give your Archie Bunker imitation a rest?

There's a huge gap between living in the US and Iraq/North Korea. That's like saying "the best food is steak. Don't believe me, try eating that squirrel someone just ran over in the road."

Germany isn't bad at all. Much nicer folks than Americans and much more cleaner. Better highways, low crime, little to no homeless population, awesome public transport very efficient and fast and is more early than on time. They also have free university, healthcare, and high taxes. Whaddaya know?
