I agree about the linemen not being recruited for the current system, and they played somewhat abysmally at times.
But I'd also like to draw your attention to Sl0thstronautEsq's linked passing video. Count how many times Milroe simply steps up into the pocket — I put the total number at two over the entire game (and one of those was almost a TD).
For maybe the majority of his throws, he never even had his feet completely set, and just downright threw off his back foot quite a bit.
In other words, I don't know how much of what we saw was on the OL and how much was on Milroe, but something clearly wasn't being communicated or executed correctly.

Because the defenses were confident that having taken away the passing reads Milroe could make that all they had to do was run blitz, contain him and roll up the play.
Two things can be true at the same time.
Our OL run blocking was bad and so was or QBs reading on run plays.

In the end Milroe is gone.
I don't understand if some of you are masochistic or whatever.... why keep reliving this past season?

You accused the OL of being bad at run blocking.
I was trying to explain that no OL in CFB can reliably run the ball against quality defenses keyed to stop it.
Defenses were run blitzing because they didn’t fear us reading it and making the proper adjustments to exploit it.
Teams didn’t load the box or run blitz against Tua/BY/Mac because it would’ve been instant suicide via a 70 yard Henry Ruggs TD.
I’m prepared to agree that we honestly don’t know fully what our line will look like next year with a new QB, OC and system.
I’m not at all prepared to agree that our OL was subpar when they were being put in the worst positions possible and often weren’t even getting the right protection adjustments on the field.

They were bad. We couldn't run regular run plays and had to lean on QB reads at a point in the season.
Again two things can be right at the same time.
The OLs you mentioned in the past were filled with higher draft picks and were better units who could force their will.
Make any excuse you want but games are won at the line of scrimmage and our OL struggled all season

When you have 330+ lb OLineman and you sit them back on their heels in a 2-point stance in the shotgun allowing the DLinemen to just tee off, it's not a mystery why we get no push.

Pretty wild that the coaching staff never picked up on this...

Considering how bad Milroe was at learning from his mistakes and how often he reverted to his worst habits under pressure, I wouldn't assume the staff hadn't picked up on it.

Whether it's the OL or Milroe, both seemed sub-par.
And to be completely honest, I've not seen much out of Miller. I just don't think he has that big play potential. Maybe he proves me wrong this year, but we haven't had a true home run hitter since what? Najee?

No Najee was not a home run hitter. He was a very tough runner but on the slower side. He was definitely one of the best RBs under Saban but oddly enough one of the slowest.
Damien Harris had multiple long runs in 2018.

I’m sure they did. But like with many things Milroe played like he learned nothing at times. Especially when he felt pressured. It’s like he resets back to his basic instincts if the game’s not going well
