It Shows that we have a smart offensive coordinator who learned from the previous week’s game when our sophomore quarterback was overwhelmed, got flustered and turned the ball over three times in the first half, two on the first two possessions of the game, leading to 17 points by the opponent.
If he’d come out in anything but the most vanilla and conservative offensive script early in that game, it would have been malpractice. Imagine once again turning the ball over early in the game and getting behind because of it.
He was smart enough to say, let’s lean on our all-world defense to protect our young quarterback.
It was the defense that let us down and nearly lost the game, not the offense.

I agree. RG came out with the gameplan I wanted to see him start with against UK.
But this week will probably be different. KR has got the juice now. You could see the light come on and he even mentioned it in his post-game comments. He isnt playing like a rookie anymore.

Understandable that an offense with a QB starting his first games and almost all new players everywhere may struggle early to adapt to different defensive looks.
Agree about the defense in the same sense. It should the one frustrating the opposition offense even more in the 1st quarter.
