I disagree with trying to diminish the importance of beating a rival. Nothing good happens when The Barn wins.
That being said, if you gave me that scenario at the start of the year, I take it 100% of the time. You always want the title. Otherwise, why play the sport?
Unless you're the Barn, then you just want the win over Alabama.

This has been good discussion and it seems like everyone is on the same page. Again, there was just something about the way this dude posed the scenario ... I don't listen to Finebaum regularly anymore because I've grown weary of the whole shtick, I generally will only tune in for a bit if something major has happened, I was just scanning the dial the other day and landed on it ... that rubbed me wrong for some reason.
I want to win the big trophy more than anything. There are still teams that I want to stomp a mudhole into everytime we play them.
The best-case scenario is running the table with 0 losses but that is a tough assignment these days ...

I know people here hate Finebaum and as I said I've grown tired of his shtick ... but I promise you, there isn't a major college football coach or any prominent person in college football whose cell phone number he doesn't have or who won't take his call.
