re: I really don’t want to be “that guy”, but this feels like when Saban took over.

I’m not letting myself get too excited yet. First, we still have to get a lot of these “predicted” guys to actually commit, and then they still need to actually sign. Second, we have to see how guys are developed by the staff, which we won’t know until they’re playing real games.

I have no reason to doubt this staff and it appears that they’re doing a great job so far, but I don’t want to get too hyped up yet.

This the best coach we could have gotten not named Kirby Smart.

I remember back to the first Oregon/Washington game and seeing DeBoer for the first time. Weird looking back, never would have thought he’d be our coach today.

I’m excited for football and basketball season to start. I love summer but this fall/winter is going to be fun.

Yeah Saban retired while elite. I dont think he was too stubborn to change to win, but he definitely thought the juice was worth the squeeze anymore. I believe him when I hear that he wants to save the game and I think he will a powerful voice in the sport for years despite being retired

Saban won the SEC sure, but with the talent we had we should have won a national title.

All I’m saying is, I don’t think Saban has gotten out the best of these boys the past few seasons due to his hard arse nature in today’s culture.

We were 115th or something in sacks allowed, and dead last in disaster plays with one of the best OLs on paper.

I think it’s more evidence that Nick was grasping at straws to fill out the staff the last few years. He was taking recommendations for candidates from a friend of a friend of a friend’s brother-in-law. His people are either out of the game or in high enough positions that he couldn’t pull them. Pair that with the kids and their “pay me” attitude and he knew he didn’t want to do it anymore. He could have because he’s the GOAT, but he couldn’t do it HIS way, the way he knows and loves.
